GAME TONIGHT

I am excited about the future of SMU basketball. I am thrilled with the new scoreboard, construction started on the practice facility etc... but I'm sorry, our inflated record doesn't have me thinking NIT or being mad at Rachel Cohen for not giving us any top 25 love. I am a realist. I will be at all of the games and will enjoy them for what they are, but our record is about to make some serious changes starting this week. Sure hope I'm wrong, and I will gladly eat crow if I am, but the facts say we were recently destroyed by Oklahoma, handled by NCA&T (who?), and lucky to escape the powerful Brown Bears in overtime. Please forgive my lack of excitement.

Be excited about what Coach Doherty has done with this group of players, none of which he recruited. They were all recruited by the previous coach. He's done a lot of work in a short amount of time and the team has responded in a positive way. I think it's as good as it gets at this juncture. I know we will continue to play hard and continue to improve. That's all we can ask in this first year. We need our phantom fans (those still living) to come on back to Moody.

That sounds like a plan to me. The dead ones couldn't be any more quiet than the live ones that show up. Save for a few of us, led by MM65 of course.

yes, we desperately need the students to turn out in full force wearing all their new greek attire and making noise for the USM game. That might wake this team up and re-energize them.
