I am not a big basketball fan-disclaimer

Why didn't Doh get some JUCO help to provide a boost? It seems everyone else raids the JUCO's and has success but us.

by the way, nobody would be happier than i would be if this team and core of freshmen go to an ncaa tournament in 2 years or even 3 years. At that point, sign Doh up for a lifetime contract. You can feed me all the crow you want about this group of 7 freshmen. this isn't about doh vs tubbs, or doh vs. dement, its simply about objectively evaluating where we are and having consistent expectations. and yes, tubbs got a raw deal, i bet even Doherty would tell you that truth be told.

Give any AD in the country a choice between Doherty and Tubbs and I bet not one in a 100 would take Tubbs. I have nothing against Tubbs, but there is no comparison between the two as far as profile for SMU basketball. When was the last time a coach a SMU coach was interviewed on National TV about the tournament. Doherty earned his salary by getting the "dough" for the Crum Center. Personally, I'll take the direction the program is going.

As far as coaching, I don't have any confidence that Tubbs would have been able to recruit any better players than Doherty did or that he could have gotten any more wins through his coaching abilities given the same players.

You sure make it sound that way. My point is the direction of the program has been in a downward trajectory, from the end of the Dement years through Tubbs to the low point now. But given all the factors that Doh brings to the program, we will soon see what a great choice SMU made in hiring Doh.

oh yeah, do you realize 350 ADs had the chance to hire Doherty after North Carolina? And only Florida Atlantic eventually did. Florida Atlantic dude. you guys act like the guy was in demand. Beside the point anyway, I am not anti doh whatsover. This team is what it is right now. Take Doh's own description of it tonight, not mine.

I didn't know there was 350 job openings after he got fired - Dude - I guess I forgot about that.

And dude - I am not buying the not anti - doh business either. I don't get your problem with him, but I am not named Hoop fan, so what do I know - dude.

you're the one who threw out the 100 AD comment, just responding to sensationalism with an equal dose. doh was out there for anybody to hire that wanted him and only FAU did, thats the point. Don't like facts? got it, you prefer your own speculation about 100 ADs.

Remind me how many schools interviewed Tubbs for a head coaching slot while he was an assistant for SMU and OU. Was it one - SMU. Then tell me who you would pick if you were an AD. Thanks.

And for the record I wanted Tubbs to succeed as much as anyone.

You should be committed if you think Tubbs is a better coach. He was a decent coach with impeccable Dallas ties...nothing more.

I don't understand what makes you think Doherty is a better coach? Because he blogs about it? Because you like the fact that he used to have a good job (of course skip over the fact that he failed miserably)? Do you notice something about the way that we play...you know how terrible we are...that makes you think he is a good coach? Is he coaching kids up to win games against more talented teams?

Ask players who played under him what they think of his coaching ability....
