Well, Not much you can say...SMU shot 54 percent from the floor, 56 from the 3 point line and 74 percent from the FT line, and tied in rebounding...nice game line that shoulda had us close.

Difference was Nixon all night and Coleman getting going in the second half. Nixon had made 8 three pointers all year, was shooting 22 percent from there, and knocked down 7 tonight...many of them very long to beat the shot clock. Nothing you can do about that and hopefully that will not happen again.

Shame McCoy couldn't play, sure that would have changed the numbers of Williams at 32 points, but we missed his defense as much as anything.

Houston's paint defense is TERRIBLE, we drove in at will and sometimes kicked out for nice threes...need to do that again on Wednesday.

Will be on a neutral court and the crowd usually favors the underdog, hope third time is the charm.

Lot of positives tonight, just not enough to get it done.

C'mon Bagice stop with the spin business about our offensive prowess. Penders' teams have always done this.

That's great we scored 77 points. Where did it get us? Our 20th loss.

Defensively, we stunk. When you give up 89 points, that's usually a loss. The Cougars shot 59 percent from the field and 59 percent from 3-point range.

And you can't spin that. That's a joke -- with or without McCoy.

When you can't get stops, it really doesn't matter what you do on the offensive end.

There better be a commitment to defense like no other or else this program is going to continue to spin.

I ain't spinning it, our defense was not bad tonight, Houston just has some good scorers that were hot....If they were a bit colder, it would have been a tight game.

We had a nice offensive game tonight, one of our best of the season against a quality opponent, that ain't no spin, its the truth, we had no long stretches without scoring, was pretty consistent...

And the young guys looked good, Haynes, Walker, Nyakundi....all were hitting big shots....

Yes we lost, but it was by no means a Cluster F@@k. Let's see how it goes in the tournament.

And I think our leading scorer not suiting up is relative and not a spin...don't ya think?

Houston likes an up tempo game and it's easy to fall into that, without a lot of intense defensive play. Yes, we contested some shots they still made, but I saw plenty of times when Houston reversed the ball and found wide open looks.

I was encouraged by the play of Haynes. He scored 12 pts in 28 minutes and more important, he didn't turn the ball over. He could work his way into the rotation next year

You usually expect to see Division I players make their most progress between their FR and SO years. If McCoy, Haynes, Nyakundi and Otis all improve their games...those guys could be a big part of bringing SMU basketball back to life.

The heck you aren't spinning about the defense.

I'm happy for Williams and his game and I guess Haynes did a nice job in place of McCoy.

But I can't accept that answer about our defense not being bad. Hot or cold for UH, you just cannot allow those shooting percentages and say, "well, we weren't bad.'' WHAAAAAAT?

That's ridiculous. We played better defense against them at Moody and they struggled shooting, and then we went cold for 8 minutes and took ourselves out of the game.

This is not a good defensive team. It's also not a very smart team. Thus, 9-20 and about to be 9-21 when our season ends Wednesday evening.

Well, forgive me if I don't concede the game until they play it Wednesday, I am looking forward to seeing how the team bounces back and after watching SMU play Houston twice, I expect us to be right there with them, and who knows, maybe it will be our turn.

To be clear, I am not happy at how the season went, but I do see it as an improvement from last year, in the second half of the season, I saw some things that gives reason to think that we have some good young talent that could come together.

Next year is make or break, the freshman and sophmores will be sophmores and juniors, Williams and Faye have come on and will be seniors next year. This team needs to be over .500 in conference next year. If not, then lets buy Doherty out and start over.

the Houston announcers were not thrilled about the prospect of having to play SMU again. They were recalling the year Houston beat us by 40 pts in a late season game, only to lose a close game to SMU in the SWC Tourney

It's tournament time so anything can happen...but I don't like this team's chances of finding that 10th win.
