Well then find someone with $20 million to spare who gives a **** about college swimming and quit whining on here about it....
My thoughts exactly. At this point I would like to see our revenue sports start to generate some revenue so that we can subsequently start projects for the other sports. If that means 99.99% of the funding is directed towards football and men's basketball so be it.
Preach on, brother. Coming out on the winning end in the next round of conference realignment will certainly require top-notch facilities for revenue sports, and could result in a financial windfall from better TV contracts, more bowl payout money, and increased alumni interest/support. Refitting the swimming facilities at this point would do nothing to help our cause and therefore makes no sense.

Think I would rather be a smart azs and eat the $6. LOL I see the mustang club attempted. An ACH debit. For 20,000,000 it was declined because it was over my daily allowance. )
BTW is this work projected to be finished for next year or the year after
Won't start till next year

Seriously, move on. Revenue sports have to be the priority to get funding for that type of sport.

- 1 It is sad to see the half emply, zero sum group defends that university sports should be defined solely by revenue sports requirments and that non-revenue sports don't have a voice or student athletes that need be supported. Ignoring legitimate problems in non-revenue suggests we should eliminat them as Div. 1 sports. The option that we defer until we become BCS for FB and BB will be a decision that kills them. Be a little concerned for the welfare of our athletes or pretend to.

Oh, you again. Look, if some magical individual out there wanted to be the lead donor on a multimillion dollar campaign to build a new swimming facility, I doubt that anyone on here (myself included) would be against it. I think it would be great. But to suggest that the swimming facility should be a higher priority than Moody or an IPF when the conference realignment situation is so unstable is simply not in the best interests of the university. Primarily football and to some extent men's basketball will be the deciding factors once the next round of realignement starts up again. If we have any shot of upgrading conferences, then our facilities for those two sports need to be top notch. SMU has too much gain and a lot to lose in the next 2,3,4 years of realignment activity, and I hope we don't screw it up. If we have a sparkling new pool on the Boulevard but we're in the glorified Sun Belt with Louisiana Tech and Arkansas State, is that progress?

I know, I know. It's your football and you are going to take it home, if you don't get your way. Controlling the Athletic Budget is not enough? Yes, yes, you bring in revenue and we are a pure costs. Nothing is more important that being BCS. I get it. What was I thinking about? Except the positive role of athletics in student life. I love SMU FB and BB, but it doesn't define college for me.

Good lord swimming has no role in student life outside of the handful of swimmers and their girlfriends. Swimming should have been upgraded years ago. It wasn't. Now is not the time. BCS money will pay for swimming. Right now, donors will not. The school cannot.

There's no point in trying to talk sense into the guy, he's so far off the reservation I don't think he'll be able to find his way back. The concept of an enhanced athletic program in a more prominent conference bringing more exposure to the school (and with it, more applications for admission and alumni support) is evidently lost on him. Maybe we should drop to all our sports programs D3 and re-fit Moody into a sprawling new library, and make Ford a massive outdoor theatre for the drama types. Because we'd be just about as relevant nationally in college sports then as we would if we get left in the cold with the likes of UNT and Ark St. when the realignment dust settles.
