I just think you have to space the minutes of the frosh out. I don't like Cannen & Jalen out there together etc. Both kids while really talented, are still wild.

All night, we ran our stuff and looked good doing it. I loved the different press looks in the 2nd half. Half court trap was really nice. We also got a few fast break buckets off the press which helped

I just scanned the box. Wow we got smoked on the boards by 13. But we forced 17 turnovers.

Defense made the difference in the final 5-6 minutes.

Still, we have got to do a better job of getting to the line. Only 15 total attempts in the last two games.

Congrats Mustangs.

9-6, 1-0

I have a feeling every game is going to be like this.

I love Frog. Probably my favorite player. But, he's too short, among other things.

He got it done tonight, though.

Great job Doh and staff. You worked incredibly hard to prepare this team for each and every game.

Travis, you don't need to stance on Frog. Most reasonable SMU fans love the kid, just want someone who has a higher ceiling at PG. Nobody is talking about running him off or taking all his minutes. FWIW, Manuel played pretty well tonight as well. He was instrumental in the press, and forced 3 of Tulsa's team fouls in the 2nd, forcing the action, and getting to the basket.

Huge shot by Frog and a great Mustang win!

Manuel is not ready to run the point... Frog seems confident with the rock and doesnt do many stupid things.....

We could very well sit here two years from now and he is still running point.

He has something.....

Great win Ponies!!!!!!!!!!!!!

great win, was especially important to not lose another close one. My heart would have rather had a win at Ole Miss but my head knows winning a conference game on the road at Tulsa is better. Lets hang around in the conference race and have some meaningful games at Moody in February.

Manuel runs the point fine, just not nuanced in the princeton. Frog is cerebral in that sense. Manuel was huge in the press and got to the basket at will for a stretch in the 2nd. I thought Shawne/Jalen and Cannen were the right guys to sit late. None valued possessions in the 2nd

Frog should be more confident to run the point after one year of experiencce on the floor. Frog knows the offense and it is difficult for someone who is a natural 2 guard (Manuel) to come in and make a difference with limited minutes/opportunities. All of the freshman have done well and helped this team win games. (They are producing with the opportunities given to them. They are freshman.) Basketball is a game that you have to give kids opportunities to make mistakes. You can not give kids a short rope and expect them to make that much of an impact on the floor. You will never gain confidence that way as a player. Why can't we just post comments to support the TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) and win games. Stop comparing this kid to that kid! Both Frog and Manuel are good guards. Put them in situations to be successful based on their strengths and the entire TEAM benefits. Go Mustangs! Good Win!

Sorry there new poster.

Didnt mean to [deleted] in your cheerios.

Manual will be a good player for us...but Samp just seems more confident and makes better decisions..IN MY OPINION...he gives us the best chance to win games.

Manuel will get his minutes, but he is not gonna unseat J-frog as the starter at point.

/cheers

You are correct. That is why we have to play this way. Void of talented athletes despite what some posters think. Defense was outstanding down the stretch. Your right - no rebounders. Heck Paul Silas was a great rebounder and only 6'5". You are also correct about getting to the line - we were 22-29 against La. Tech and now back to not getting to the line. Why? Guess we don't have athletics who can break people down off the dribble and guys that can flop or draw the foul. Things we can work on. Don't think anyone on this team can break someone down off the dribble and score. That is ok as long as we get the W.

You constantly post that we don't have talent. Talent ALONE will never guarantee success. How many of us know people who are tremendously talented and have not been successful in life?

FACT: We have talented athletes (Some are very young and need to develop. It's a process and it takes time. Be patient).

Also, you don't need 2 NBA prospects to have a winning team. How many basketball players even make it to the NBA??? Less than 1% of all college basketball players. Whether nor not a person makes it to the NBA is not ALWAYS determined by where they are as a freshman, sophomore, or even a junior. One has to continue to develop and work hard to become an NBA caliber player.
We need everyone working together for one common goal and we need everyone putting in individual time to get better to benefit the whole. That's what it takes to WIN!!
