Amaker is suppose the be already making about 1.2 million at Harvard. Do you think we can buy him out from Harvard and give him a decent raise? That will be kind of tough to pull off. But if the powers that be can then more power to them.
Not always about the biggest paycheck. The guy fell from grace as a big east coach, not doing that badly, but not good enough. At SMU he can redeem himself and have the time to build from the ground up, his way.
I see what you are saying. So you are serious in saying that you think we have a realistic chance at him.

Was Doh's hiring all Orsini's call? If so, I see having a qualified outside consultant as a great thing, maybe SO knows he is out of his depth or a big booster is ready to step in with some big cash but wants to make sure he isn't throwing away money at Doh 2.0.
Shaka would be a dream hirer, but money can make anything happen. Any word on the potential salary range SMU is willing to offer?

that's assistant coach range, or maybe we could steal an MVC coach. That isn't stealing an Amaker, Hewitt etc

Thanks for the quick info. Seems that Shaka Smart has a $1.2 base salary at VCU, I doubt that would be enough to get him, but it should get us somebody as it puts us in a competitive range along with our facilities and location. The only thing that could potentially hold us back is lack of school/community spirit and academic hurdles.

I'm no expert - but i don't think there is an assistant in the country making 1 million.
1.5 will get us an excellent coach and recruiter. admissions is our biggest obstacle, but we have been doing much better there in last 24 months in both major sports. still work to do matching our peers - especially in basketball.

i think he is saying that 1 million is what you pay an assistant that your are giving a head job to..not that there is an current assistant making that.

Yup. You can bump an associate HC from another school to 1mill and have money left over for a nasty staff. If you're hiring a HC, even from the MVC or CAA, gotta bring more to the table

Wasn't he the guy that did the nasty with LeBron's mom? Oops, that was Delonte West.

How so? RGT directed? Beaudine due to the JJ fiasco? But how so with Orsini?

Messed up at Seton Hall and could not handle Michigan and recruiting. Leave him in peace at Harvard.
