Yup, shut it down.

Why on Thursday???? Is the world going to end?? There is plenty of talent out there and the trick is to find that right person. Just because a person is not immediately known on this board does not mean anything. Even the best of the current crop of top coaches had to start somewhere and be given a chance. IMO we need to either go after a current top established coach and lure him away from his program and/or find a bright, energetic young assistant with recruiting skills and reasonable experience. The last thing we need is another experienced veteran coach who has essentially failed, has baggage or has been very average at a number of other programs.

I think the reason to have a coach by Thursday is to give a chance for the new coach to assemble a good coaching and get ready to recruit by the next Monday when the recruiting period starts. If we do not hire a coach by then we will lose valuable time in recruiting. It will be doing a disservice to the coach if we do not have him in place this week.

I understand your point and this date; however, we have 3 signed for this fall and I understand we may still have 1 ship available. Nothing wrong with holding that ship for the November signing date along with the other 3 or 4 than will open up for 2013. Another argument has been that there are 70 plus transfers out there to grab. Seems like we had a bunch of transfers on ships sitting out the previous year and they essentially contributed nothing to this past season. Disgruntled and academically failing transfers are not the solution most of the time. Situation would be acute if we did not already have 3 good signings.

I guess this weekend is the start of open recruiting so that would be the time to have a coach in place. Also, the new coach may not want all the players who we have and may release others to make room for his new recruits. Not only that but he will be looking at juniors, soph's. and freshmen in high school as well for future classes. It would be better for him to have this time.
