Houston is the only remaining game not sold out, but after today's media blitz, I'll be surprised if that game isn't sold out by end of the day tomorrow.

And I think you'd have to call the ticket office to have any chance. Per the website it's already sold out, but I haven't seen any announcement/confirmation.

Understood, but tell that to UT/USC/Mich, etc. fans who pay 5k for football season a 100k seat stadium. My only point is that we experienced a huge increase already this season for those in 'premium' level seating. Lots of people whined, especially because we paid for seats in Garland, but we understood that's the cost of the new arena/conference. Unless we win it all this year there is no reason to increase premium level prices. The increase should be for the casual goer who thought they could walk up and get in for $10.

An increase is in order I think, although I agree it would probably be more significant (relatively) in the lower-end seats. It's also very likely that every season ticket will require some level of Mustang Club donation. That said, it is only one year of success and running off the faithful with an excessive increase could backfire long-term. Given how everything has been run as of late, I actually have faith that all of this will be handled fairly.

Donation levels went from $500 to $2500 for lots of people. That is significant. Mine went from $250 to $5000 for the same sight line. I don't think it would be appropriate to impose an increase on these folks after one year (9 games). I guess I'm saying let's see how far we go. One season ain't [deleted]. I love what's happening but we haven't won anything yet.

Yeah, I agree. My donation level increased significantly as well, although not quite as steeply. I was surprised when my basketball minimum donation was all the sudden higher than my football minimum donation. But I wasn't very clear; I think the increase should be vastly more significant for the lower-end seats. Most donation-required season ticket holders already "ponied up" in anticipation of the coming seasons, because we already had faith in the program's direction. That said, it is a business. If this kind of demand continues the amounts could easily go up. Right now I have faith that the SMU athletic department will handle this fairly and I'm not gonna worry about it too much until they give me a reason to.

I agree that the 200 level seats and non-donor areas will see the biggest increase, but the best value in the premium sections has to be floor right now. I'd be surprised if those didn't go up significantly as there are only 70 or 80 (?) seats on the court.

I agree completely. I just think that some don't realize how much everyone already ponied up for this year even though we played half our games in Garland. It's been worth every penny, though! Also, I tend to repeat myself after a few beers.

Yeah, that is one area they could charge way more if you compare to some of the bigger basketball schools. But I really hope they slow play this... if they have faith our success will be sustained, there's no reason to go for a cash grab. It's just one great season at this point; things could still go badly quickly. It happens to even the best programs. EDIT: Forgive the spurt of negativity; talking money makes me cynical rapidly. I'll return to positivity in all other threads.

TIcket office 101: Never raise prices more than 10% in one year. You need those fans when times are bad. When the team goes back to crap=empty stadium. You just don't do it, their problem is that they've diluted the market with low prices. Hard to raise them, much harder than lowering. As to who said raise them for people at the gate=BINGO. Those are the people that will be affected the most. Move to a dynamic pricing model would be what SMU should do, this next year will be critical and show the competence in the athletic department from a business model stand point.

No, you're right. Everyone saying they'd gladly pay more likely hasn't been giving for very long, or doesn't give at all. I'm relatively young but have already lived through many increases in ticket prices...to what avail?

Yes, it's awesome. But it's also been 3/5 of one season. Hate to be a negative nancy, but let's win something first. I'm happy as clams with where we are at. I also increased my donation a [deleted] last year, as did many others.
