Just get someone to visit SMU in the middle of March when its 75 degrees and then the next weekend go visit Ohio State and Michigan. If they still decide to go to school in the Rust Belt or the economic wasteland that is the state of Michigan then guess what? We don't want them at SMU anyway.

So, FOR ME, SMU is a much better option than Michigan. My opinion. Has the best of all worlds: (1) small, but large access to great job markets; (2) great academics; (3) beautiful campus; (4) great location; (5) some of the hottest women in the country; (6) and NOW a great basketball program.

I've spent quite a bit of time in Silicon Valley. I like Stanford a lot, but I prefer Dallas to San Jose (and I'm a Cali guy). No location is better than Pepperdine but I still like SMU better. :-)

I can't quite figure you out OBF. You come on here and say how we're inferior to other schools, how we play poorly, how Ohio State has better chances with recruits we're going after, and then claim to be an SMU fan. This is my alma mater and this is why I post here. Where exactly did you go to school? My defense of my alma mater is extremely logical. Your posting here is not.

I think you have it in your head that I attack SMU when I'm not at all. I love SMUs campus, what it has to offer, and the women. I'm sorry that it comes across this way but those are not my intentions if you look at my posts literally and disregard my perceived allegiances. I also understand that SMU is better for you, I was simply saying Michigan is among the best in the country in regard to academics. I'm so lost as to how I'm even defending that god-forsaken school. I'd never go there in a million years for undergrad, kids are nerds, bar scene sucks, Ann Arbor is way too "artsy" for my taste, ect.

I say the same [deleted] about Ohio State when they play poorly, trust me. If I say SMU played poorly, it's because they did, not because I don't like SMU. That's not an attack on SMU and I can see how that is being interpreted as an attack, but it's me just being candid about any game I watch. I will be the first to admit that Ohio State is awful at times, see Penn State. Absolute dogshyt, I've seen high school teams that have played better than Ohio State did that game. I just don't post those thoughts very often on here because nobody really cares about OSU or wants to discuss their offensive woes. They're more sterile on the offensive end than 80 year old women a lot of games.

I went to Miami (OH). Overall academic/campus profile is very similar to SMU. SMU is much more selective overall, but Miami has a great business program, that's why I chose there over other schools I looked at. 3.30 GPA minimum after your first two years of school, ect to get into Farmer School of Business for example. I can admit that Miami is inferior academically overall to SMU, but that is me taking my bias out of the equation of my Alma Mater. Also has great looking women, basically where all the good looking girls from the midwest go. Actually a big influx of "talent" from the Atlanta and St. Louis areas haha. One of the best looking girls I know actually went to SMU, I do enjoy the girls down at the school. Actually went on a spring break to Cabo with a group of 5 of them from SMU the one year, great week and not a bad looking girl in the bunch that were in our group.

And for your Pepperdine comment, couldn't agree more if I tried. BEAUTIFUL campus, nobody could possibly complain about living in Malibu on the beach basically. And Pepperdine is also a great school from an academic stand point.

Again, me saying Michigan is a great academic school is not me belittling SMU in any form, just being a realist. No different than me saying SMU is superior to my alma mater as an academic whole. People are passionate about their alma maters and the last thing someone wants is some hick from Ohio belittling their alma mater in any way, so I get that.

As for the above poster, I'd recommend you check out Miami (OH), it'll change your mind on the Rust Belt region haha. Here's what came up in a quick google search

Miami (OH) is a popcorn fart compared to SMU.

lol you have no idea my man. You really don't. They both are good looking but literally every single hot girl in about a 10 state radius is on that campus along with the best from quite a few southern parts. I don't know what the frat/sorority break down is at SMU but it's about 70% on the Oxford campus. I would reserve judgment if you've never been because it's almost unreal that the place exists in the midwest.

I've visited Miami, OH a number of times, applied, got accepted, and it made my top 3. My non-scientific opinion was that it is basically the Korean knock-off of Coca Cola. Striking similarities to SMU, just on completely different levels. Except Miami was building a palace for their very good D-1 hockey program and had a really cool on-campus hotel to stay in.

The way SMT belittles other schools is laughable. If anyone wonders why people hate SMU, just read a few of SMT's post. He acts like SMU is Ivy League....

Hey I'm sure UT-San Antonio has some cool stuff too but SMU that makes it not.

LA Mustang has the sense of humor of a piece of cork board. Relax. Getting a degree from any school in the nation is a great accomplishment (no sarcasm). My wife attended UNT and the vast majority of my family that was lucky enough to attend college went to such fine institutions as East Texas State and Paris Junior College. Have a little fun every now and then. I promise you won't get pregnant.

I guess you missed the first 75% of my post where I said it's similar, but on a different level.

Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder, and I do claim 1/3 of a brain. But for someone who loves hills and trees, Ohio U. is a top-10er. Smu has the architecture (assuming you like Georgian as I do), but it is flat as is the rest of Dallas. Accent colors count for a lot though, and the eye candy at SMU is diabetic-unfriendly.

Miami (OH) is a pretty campus but trying to compare the totality of that institution (campus, women, academics, profile, etc.) to SMU is well......not that smart.

Ok, understood.

Then you should probably go on the Miami (OH) school's athletic board and cheer them on. Happy to have you here as well, but I just never understand people who were big fans of other schools not their own. I went to SMU so that's the school I care about. I'm not on any other school's boards because I didn't go there and don't give a [Deleted]. If I did, I would have went to that school. (I know people who went to Memphis State, for example, and Ole Miss or Alabama are their favorite teams - they wear the shirts/bumper stickers, etc etc . . . I never understood that).

Never been. Have no plans to. I wonder if OBF has ever been on the SMU campus and just walked around for a few days. I won't compare Miami(OH) to SMU because I've never been to Miami(OH). I HAVE been to the midwest, though, and it is generally the ugliest place with the ugliest people (rust belt even worse). Of the places I've been (and I've been all over the U.S., lived on both coasts, Texas, and the southeast), to me the hottest women are in L.A., followed by Dallas, then it falls off the map pretty much after that.
