This year we likely have a better basketball team than Georgetown and we may have a better team in the coming years. We do not yet have the history to say we are a better basketball school. A program like theirs is what LB strives to bring to Dallas. The implication of your statement implies that if: (1) somehow SMU football were nationally ranked one year and UT were not; and (2) we looked better on paper than them; and (3) it appeared our football program would be better than than theirs for the next five years then we would be considered a better football school. That is simply not the case. So in a nutshell, Georgetown is better academically, has a richer and deeper basketball history, and is in a more stable basketball conference so this is quality offer.

I think SMU is backing off due to the potential helicopter dad situation.

We would really appreciate it if you would not divulge information leaked from the WDNWHA Committee.

When can I, and what do I have to do, to join?

You do not join. You are selected. You serve until death. It is like the Supreme Court. We wanted to be like the Supremes but none of us could carry a tune.

Took an official visit to Florida this weekend, and took in the Florida-Kentucky game. Tweeted that he was blown away by the visit. . . Take it for what it's worth

Thought I'd bump this. He's OVing to OSU this weekend, he'll also have UM, Florida, and Oregon as OVs. I talked to someone down at the WHAC today, sounds like Mickey is a pretty strong driver in him visiting fwiw. Something to keep an eye on as to who gets his 5th visit. I would have to think one of the Texas schools are going to get an OV. I don't know much about this kid though.

I dunno. Perhaps it's just me. But, I'm not really feeling SMU & Grandstaff together. Seems like the visits are to out of state schools. . . And that doesn't even count the original commit to Okie Light.

Yeah, anyone know his background? Is he from Texas or did he grow up in the Midwest? Schools don't really have a rhyme or rhythm to them as to the ones he's taking OVs at least.

Grandstaff's Dad Wes has been around the Texas high school/AAU scene for over two decades-so I'm pretty sure his son grew up in Texas too. In addition, didn't he used to have a Texas high school basketball website he was involved with. Apparently, he was the Texas Editor of HoopScoop website

So is Mickey Mitchell still planning on attending Ohio State? Any update? Is there still a chance that SMU gets a commitment from him? Kid looks looks like baller. Better than most 2015 recruits that I have seen, should be ranked much, much higher.

He's still committed to Ohio State. I haven't talked to Ken (his dad) in quite a while or the family. Grandstaff has said Mickey is one of the big reasons he's OVing to Ohio State because he'd like to play with him at the next level, they're friends. As for why he isn't ranked higher, that's easy to answer, he effectively sat out this entire year and had a torn ACL last year. So he hasn't had a chance to be properly evaluated in basically a year and a half. I do agree though, kid is really good but need to see if he's still go the bounce in his step that he had pre-injury. This summer will go a long ways, I don't know who has him ranked that low though. Most had him on the fringe of being a 5* or was a 5* even with the ACL tear and everything.
