Police activityModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Police activityI paid for my ticket I can do whatever I want damnit!
Re: Police activityI don't think anyone is saying we should be relaying any derivatives of duck foot or whatever, but asking Ollie who his valentine is makes me laugh and I think it is both mean and clever. So I choose to believe we can be mean and also not be crude. Trust me, all your little dukies are more crude than this, and probably not as clever.
Re: Police activitySo - have we decided if Bill Cosby is "on the Table" for this week?
He certainly was for SNL. I say we go with it... ![]() "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR

Re: Police activity
Throttled? Last time I checked you thought Ulric was taking one for the team and at worst we would lose a scholly or two after all is said and done? Now you're saying we will get "throttled"? What's with the change?
Re: Police activity
I have far more pieces to this thing than most, but have no idea how this is turning out. The scenario laid out above seems like the very best possible outcome, if this was actually deemed a rogue situation and before Keith got to campus. I'm hopeful we pleaded out, offered up Ulric and Keith, and can move on down the road, maybe w/o a ship or so. That said, it's all really a matter of how deep the NCAA got into the rabbit hole. If they connect some dots and we can't cover loose ends and lips and its determined academic fraud went on at SMU as well, ruh roh...
Re: Police activityAfter a player of his was brutally heckled, the player complained to his manager, the legendary Connie Mack (aka Cornelius McGillicuddy), to which Connie replied, "the man paid for that ticket, he can say whatever he wants". Years later, he did get a heckler arrested, but Mack knew every fan's dollar was something that paid the salaries of these players (before TV rights packages). I agree with Hoopmanx about Duke fans. Living on the shores of the Potomac, my UMD and UVA friends have some stories to tell about how "restrained" Duke students are. I once got an Aggie player to flip me off during the game while he was on court. I kept on him about his lack of size. We won the game and the Aggies melted down that night. Distractions are part of the game my friends. As to Bill Cosby, I'll repeat my Ravens/Steelers story. When Ben Rothlesburger took the field after his little problem, the Baltimore fans chanted "No means No". The Steelers won the game on a Troy Polomalo sack/fumble, but Big Ben was totally off that night.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Police activityyou don't see random people o the street and make fun of them for getting a divorce?
if you do, i need to follow you around for a day. that would be great comedy. Derail the Frogs!
Re: Police activityI love it, our students finally get loud, sustain it, and create an awesome atmosphere and people are offended. Completely agree with hoopmanx et al . . .

Re: Police activity
Whatever was going on at Lincoln HS would impact not just SMU, but most schools that recruited Student Athletes out of Lincoln. Wouldn't OSU, Texas, Baylor, A&M, etc., etc also fall into said "rabbit hole". I am sure that KF was not the only athlete at Lincoln that got some "help" with meeting the requirements for graduation. Why is KF the only one getting scrutiny out of the 80+ that likely were in same boat. Re: Police activity
This. I'm all for a loud, rowdy student section that does a little research and comes up with clever chants, heckles, etc., but resorting to basic vulgarity ("he's a p*ssy", "bullsh*t") or bringing up topics that cross the line (granted, there's no clear line other than common sense, which college students can lack) puts us right in line with Texas Tech. With how the team plays on the court, I'd much rather have opposing fans leaving Moody complimentary of our team, the atmosphere and our classy fans. Guarantee those opposing fans who leave offended by our students just leave with a bitter taste in their mouths about the entire university. Based on these threads, I know I'm in the minority, but I agree with DiamondM that we can no longer call out Tech or anyone else for their classlessness if we're encouraging it at our sporting events. I believe the home court advantage comes from the noise and energy, not from the vulgarity or low blows.
Re: Police activityAgreed 100%
Re: Police activityDo we know the kid who was yelling it even knew about the divorce? (I tried to find it in the thread but couldn't)
My thoughts on chants etc. If you can say it in front of a 10 year then its OK. If a 10 year old would have heard the student yelling, "Whose your valentine?" the 10 year old would not know the underlying meaning. But if a 10 year old hears the chant "F-U- TCU" or whatever school, there is no hiding the meaning from the 10 year old. I get the feeling some on this board would be upset if we started chanting "KELVIN SAMSUNG" at Kelvin Sampson.
