He doesn't have to sit out if he graduates.
He didn't say he did.

No, it would not make sense for him to transfer if he had to sit out a yeara but if he graduates this year he does not have to sit out. Just like Justin Martin was immediately eligible for SMU because he had graduated from Xavier. The key factor in this will be if SMU get any kind of post season sanctions next year imo.

That is not what he said. Right or wrong you need to read what he said again. I misread it the first time also.

Agreed, but if you read it "correctly", his comment doesn't make sense. I know we all have a special affection for SMU, but if Iowa State (for example) came calling, many would argue that's a slam dunk decision. His transfer to SMU has nothing to do with it. These 5th year mercenaries have become big business.

I agree. That is why I said right or wrong. I was just pointing out he was not saying Nic would have to sit a year if he left. If I were Nic, I would probably stay unless we got a post season ban but I am a little biased.

If I were Nic, I probably would never have come to SMU. As a star basketball player I would probably go to UCLA or Stanford. What I said is that if a player transfers to a school and has to sit out a year as a result, it probably means he really wants to be at that school. As a result, I would not expect that player to want to transfer again, even if he were immediately eligible at that third school. Especially not now that we have one of the top 5 coaches in the game and a true home court advantage. Is Iowa State really any better than SMU? I see only a couple of schools that would be an upgrade for him such as Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, etc. and those schools really don't need him.

Suppose we are not eligible for post season play next year? Also, SMU for recruits is not the 4th best school in the country to play for because if that were the case we would be landing 4 and 5 star big men out of high school every year. Seems like you are viewing things through homer colored glasses. Plus next year he is going to have to split time with other true point guards coming in which he may not want to do.
