While I don't like the DFW teams tourney idea, I have no problem scheduling TCU, UTA & UNT every year and could even play for a Metroplex Champion/Mayor's Trophy. I'd rather play these schools than Hampton, Nichols State, etc... Regardless of future scheduling ideas, we need to continue playing TCU and keep/rebuild that rivalry. Obviously we have to become more competitive in football for it to really be a rivalry.

As for enhancing our non-conference schedule, I'd love to see us play in the Charleston Classic soon. That's become a pretty decent 8 team tourney that is played close to Thanksgiving. If we can't get home/home series with big names, try to get into tournaments with them. I don't like the idea of taking only road games against other top 25 programs. If top 10 schools won't give us home/home series, then aim for schools in 15-25 range or just outside top 25.

I honestly thought it was simply because we had no name-brand credibility. Even if we're good, if P-5 School X comes down to Moody and gets pasted, they'll take all sorts of flack for it as a "bad loss" to a "G-5 school," despite the fact that, you know, we're actually really good. Thought that would "wear off" to an extent as this thing keeps rolling downhill. For example, if, say, Texas (I know it won't happen), comes to Moody next year, they'd be playing a legitimate Top 20 program in a first-class facility coming off three straight 25+ win seasons in front of a full house in a decent hoops conference with high-major talent up and down the roster.

Being P5 is not as big a deal in basketball as it is in football. There are plenty of damn good basketball teams out there that are not P5.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Last time I checked, we are still top 10 RPI which is a pretty big deal in basketball

So taking that 155 (which is only going to get worse) off the schedule would bump us up even better.

Again...TCU isn't the culprit on here. Plenty of other teams to remove first

some people talk as if TCU isn't worthy of being on our schedule. I'm sure many of their fans feel the same way about our football team. While we have a little winning streak going in bball, they were at least competitive in those games; more so than we have been in football. As for the RPI factor, TCU plays in the Big XII and just being affiliated with those programs will boost their RPI. Hampton and Nichols State...not so much.
