If form holds and we're playing Cincy in the final, not sure the committee will alter the bracket regardless of who wins. In my opinion, if we make it to Saturday (semi-finals), we are locked in to a 6 or 5 seed. Lose Friday and it will be a 7 or 6. Hope I'm wrong. However, much more interested in who we are playing than what seed we are. Would so much rather see a Xavier or Vandy than a Wichita State or even MTSU.
I see this is a good thing actually, if both Cincy and SMU are in the finals. I could easily see the committee putting two place holders out there. The winner of the game gets a four seed, the loser a six seed. I would be OK with that.
My guess and hope as well. Interesting to see how that plays out within a draw. Better to be the last 4 or the first 6?

I don't see the committee making such a material distinction between us and Cincy if the teams are playing Sunday. Maybe a 5 vs 6 or 4 vs. 5. By all accounts, the two teams are pretty evenly matched. And, unfortunately, I don't see us getting a 4 seed, unless there's a meltdown in the #s 8-20 this week. We could be the highest 5 seed, however.

WOuldn't be surprised if we get a 5 or 6 and the committee places us against Wichita St in the first round, screwing both of us

Do folks really think that the NCAA Committee is out to get us (and just us)? Come on...

Don't count out the fact that they would love the Semi vs Duke story line. I often think that those sort of story lines are thought of as the matchups are put together - even looking forward to the second (3rd) round and beyond.
Larry vs. his former UCLA team last time?

Really. They can't please everyone. Teams will get what are considered favorable or unfavorable seedings, draws and game destinations. But do you actually think they have time to think about some of the stuff people like us come up with? I seriously doubt it. The only place I can see that dynamic at work is the last teams in....and out. Yeah....they totally screwed us three years ago.

if they get in...which I doubt they do unless other P5 bubble teams lose in the first round of their respective conference tourneys

VERY unlikely Illinois St gets in unless the committee really changes the criteria that they showed when unveiling the top 16 previously. Illinois St went only 2-4 against the top 100 (beat Wichita St once and New Mexico; lost to Wichita twice as well as TCU and San Fran). Also have a loss at #231 Murray St.

Lunardi still has us on the 5 line (better than most), playing the winner of USC and Xavier. Is that "allowed" - a potential USC rematch? I know they avoid conference matchups for the first two rounds, but what about rematches of regular season games, not clear on that?

I like his bracket for us. No one scares me on that side of the bracket. Duke is an overrated 4, if anything, wouldn't like the draw of playing them in Greenville.

About 99% sure that we cannot play USC in first round since we played in non-conference.
