First time for me at the Liacouras Center and I was not impressesed. Their crowd really wasn't into the game and they probably had about 15 random mascots (Philly phanatic, pretzel head, piggy, etc.) out on the court every time out. So bizarre. Of course it sort of matched our bizarre play. There was a good SMU turnout and the Mustang Club event prior to the game and it was fun and well attended. Rick Hart was there, along with one of the assistants. They were both very engaged with the crowd.
Think I'm now banned from attending basketball games as I must have brought bad luck.
Halftime was even more bizarre when they had the mascots attempt to play basketball and had a girl out there trying to see how many balloons she could pop by sitting on them (within the prescribed time limit).
Hi guys. Just wanted to clarify this for you. The Temple/SMU game was our annual Hooter's Birthday Game, which is a celebration of our mascot Hooter T Owl's birthday. This is usually a big turn out for kids, schools, teams, etc. Attendance is generally better than it was for that game since we're never as bad as we are this year. Our associate AD for marketing actually won a national award for the Hooter's Birthday Game promotion a few years ago. I could understand how it would look bizarre if you had no idea what was going on, but it's a lot of fun, and as a student, it was one of my favorite games every year. As far as the atmosphere goes, I'm not going to pretend we have the most intense and passionate fans in the country, but you have to understand how disappointing this season has been. If you had gone to the Villanova, St. Joe's, LaSalle games or the VCU whiteout game last year, I think you would feel differently. A fun fact and one of the most random stats you'll ever find: Temple is 9-0 on Hooter's Birthday. Go Owls!

We started the season with only 9 scholarship players eligible. We have 3 transfers sitting out right now. One from Texas, one from Clemson and one from UMass. Of those 9, Daniel Dingle, our 6th man, who was playing his way into the starting lineup, tore his meniscus in practice 10 games into the season, and our starting PF/C Anthony Lee hurt his knee our previous game against Louisville and was out against you.

Guess an e-mail will be sent to the SMU Basketball Department about not scheduling Temple on 2/26 (Hooters B-Day).

Really just like us last year. We all think that y'all are better than your record. We still should have best you, Hooters birthday or not. Good luck going forward particular next year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
