Official SMU-TULSA Game ThreadModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Official SMU-TULSA Game ThreadSC -
let me try to explain - people who know basketball (which apparently does not include you) are STARTING to get excited about this program due to what we have seen in the last three weeks, what is sitting onthe bench waiting for eligibility and who has committed to us for next year. Nobody is making final four reservations, but all of that is worthy of noticing and celebrating compared to where we have been. Our rating is moving up quickly and will continue to do so. If you cant follow all that it would be better to keep your key board locked so people dont know if you are dense or not, rather then type something that removes all doubt.
Re: Official SMU-TULSA Game ThreadAll I can say is WOW, people! For a thread that was so full of pleasant surprise last night after winning a game in which we were double digit dogs on the road, this thing got really ugly.
I guess it's the SMU way these days. Count me among those who just want the Mustangs to be successful. While I've been up and down on the Doh era, I'd like nothing more for him to become our Frank Beamer...close to being run off before turning the program into a consistent long term winner. These guys have already won as many games as I thought they would all year, so kudos to the players and coaching staff for getting it done despite the lack of fan support at SMU. I hope they can bring back more of our long alienated fans. They are sure keeping me entertained and for that, I thank them.
Re: Official SMU-TULSA Game Threadcount me in. already season ticket holder no matter what.
Re: Official SMU-TULSA Game ThreadWinning 3 conference games (.500)...how about a winning season, and winning ONE conference tournament game for a CHANGE. Now that would be a BIG improvement.
Re: Official SMU-TULSA Game ThreadTo the drive bys -- thank you, we know we aren't that great at the moment -- We know we haven't been to the tourney since 1993 - we know we are in a below average conference. No, we won't win the conference this year.
I too am being entertained by these guys at the moment -- improvement is nice to see -- Move along please.... Time to close the thread, on to the next game.
Re: Official SMU-TULSA Game Thread
CUSA is actually eighth in rpi so by definition we are in an above average conference. Not a power conference, but above average nonetheless.
Re: Official SMU-TULSA Game Thread
Wish the league OOC was better. That's all fine but we are still a one bid league or two if someone gets lucky in the conf tourney, that is what matters. If we had 3-4 in the tourney every year, I would call that above average. Seem to be a little more competitive than previous yrs. Usually only one team in the top 25, currently zero. Missouri Valley and Horizon is usually better in the tourney which is sad. By my scale, its who makes noise in the dance. Last edited by Pony_Fan on Thu Jan 27, 2011 10:45 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I don't usually do this, but seriously? You are on "PONYFANS" only people who are PONYFANS should post. Where we are or were is unimportant. Your superiority complex might fill the rest of your sad life, but it doesn't have to fill here. Cheer Up, get behind the team, or find a forum more suited to your finely tuned basketball musings. Mustangs Abu!
Re: Official SMU-TULSA Game Thread24 hours later and we are still posting on the game thread!

Re: Official SMU-TULSA Game ThreadSC pony is uninformed about this basketball team. I had to look on the internet to find out that they have a 235 RPI.
I 'm glad that some of you are excited about that.
Re: Official SMU-TULSA Game Thread
Here's the thing, this board is for every Mustang hoops fan, but is mostly frequented by the diehards. We've all been aware what this year is and isn't, since the schedule came out, and the ineligibles were ruled on. Flashing a 235 RPI isn't remotely indicative of how this team is playing, nor were we ever going to have a high RPI based on how this season was scheduled. People are coming around b/c the team has very nice chemistry, is beating some teams that have far more talent, and the systems are CUSA kryptonite. Next year, we add 8 new kids, two of which are national top 100 types. The others are kids w/very good offers or international kids that would be 4 star types, had they played AAU in America. If this years team can achieve and show continuity, the future is incredibly bright, cause we'll be one of the deepest and most talented in the league next year. You can't just drive-by, drop an uniformed opinion, amongst a crew that knows the score. It won't be received particularly well, as you've seen. If you wanna watch and be constructive or even hate from an informed place, love to have you. If you are going to quote RPI w/o watching, talk about SC Upstate, and generally seem salty, good luck w/that “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
Re: Official SMU-TULSA Game ThreadCan we just roll this thread into the Rice thread?
Re: Official SMU-TULSA Game Thread
Great idea. OP just needs to change the subject. Lots of momentum here, and I'm superstitious “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
