Mavs rebuildModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower ok. dirk is a small forward who has really improved as a rebounder this last couple years. but his offensive game is small forward. and he's good enough to play for a championship team as a small forward. josh howard maybe should be shooting guard. the mavs need a post player who is an inside offensive threat--the lack of such enabled small ball to beat them. with that, avery wouldn't be trapped into playing into don nelsons strong suit. so trade terry for or sign a low post offensive threat. as bad as the finish was, most of the parts are there to compete. you don't throw it all away because dirk isn't the best player in the nba playoffs.
I don't think that was a cheap shot. Nash was playing aggressive belly up defense and Bowen pivoted to clear space. To me that was good clean, hard basketball being played on offense and defense in that situation. I think Bowen gets a bad rap really. I personally have a lot of respect for guys that work hard, do the little things, and get the dirty work (no pun intended here) done to win games. One of my favorite players in the entire league right now is Chuck Hayes for just those reasons. I DO, however, think that Bowen did kick Amare on that dunk. To me it just seems like their is no way that could have been by chance. Could have easily been suspended a game for that one and noone could really have argued it much.
hey...they don't call Horry "Big Shot Bob" for nothing. That shot he gave Nash might be bigger than all those 3's he hit at the end of games for the Rockets and Lakers in his prime
Dallas Mavericks - 2011 NBA CHAMPIONS!
Long live the Circle of Champions!
Dampier & Jason Terry to Seattle for sign and trade with Reshard Lewis and Earl Watkins. This gives the mavs a proven nba backup and instantly better rebounding. JHo moves to the 2, where he would be a great rebounder, Lewis at the 3 (good rebounder at the 3, but not so hot at the 4), and dirk at the 4. diop and devin round out the starting 5. keep stack on board for bench scoring. Seattle does this trade in a heartbeat. If they don't they lose Lewis and get nothing back as he opted out. Terry gives them a leader in the locker room. They will have Durrant, Ray Allen, Terry, Damp, and name Ridnour. That team makes the playoffs right away.
Because there is no way in hell that the Lakers do this trade straight up. Dirk is not near as marketable as Kobe and Kobe is a better player. It is going to take a 1st round pick, another player like Stack or Terry and Dirk for the Mavs to get Kobe.
I find the topic to be completely undebateable. Kobe is WITHOUT QUESTION a better player. Also, whats more of a head case- a primadonna with a huge ego or a guy who can't deliver when it matters?
Kobe is a big time player and a legit superstar- might very well be the best player in the league. Dirk is not. Also saying that fading when it matters might constitute as a headcase in its own right, which I am attributing to Dirk.
Dirk for KG.. would take that in a second..
Plus the Wolves have all kinda cap issues that would free up for them. I know KG WAS the highest paid.. not sure if he still is? What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
