I dont really understand what else there is to discuss. i feel like friarwolf is the only other one that gets it. the will is broken in every one of the players. doherty has this affect on all of his players unintentionally, and it's not like that is something thats all of a sudden just going to improve under this regime. it happened at unc and it's happening here. we need a fresh start. its going to be cloudy skies until he's outta here, i promise.

Dude, they are girls.

And winning

watching women's basketball is never winning

Yes it is. I thoroughly enjoy our women's team, and always have. I can understand if some people dont, not everyone enjoys the same things. Personally, I dont consider golf a spectator sport, it's fun to play but not to watch. Millions of people around the world must disagree with me, though, because the tournaments are still on TV and they get good ratings. Some people dont enjoy soccer, but hundreds of millions of people around the world are fanatical about it.

Last year after the Ladies beat UTEP in the finals of the conference tournament I was hit with an overwhelming feeling of pride and happiness for our team. I even made a post on this forum that said days and moments like that were the reason why I followed the women's team, because they gave me at least one every year. It's been more than a few years since any other team around here gave me a feeling like that, so I keep following the ladies, because moments like that and feelings like that are scarce, and I have to take them where I can get them.

It's nearly impossible to do what he did to Carolina, w/that amount of talent. In game coaching was the least of his worries, but still not good. Carolina basketball has the strongest basketball family of any school in America, bar none. He managed to tear it down in ways not previously thought possible. His tantrums were legendary, and his disregard for Dean was idiotic.

It's amazing after you read those quotes, and think about his tenure here, how much still holds true. Some people aren't CEO's, just don't have the people skills or temperament

Glad you liked it. Doherty really is an interesting case study.

Like I said before XTC...your are very predictable. I knew you you would be glad that people liked your post. Fact is, you posted nothing new. It is old news. I noticed that you did not post any of the writeups about what actions Coach Doherty has done to help him in his perceived shortcomings. I would post these articles myself but I figure people, especially mustang fans, should already know these things and if they don't then, well they must not care enough to find out. You even said yourself that these articles are easy to find. Its just that you took the effort to post them here. Your agenda is showing once again. You have not been a supporter of Doherty from the get go. That is your peragotive. Just please be straight forward with people about this. Your guy Tubbs was let go and your guy Evans was not hired to replace him.

Let me put it this way; I don't find much enjoyment or entertainment value in watching people do things I can easily do myself. I'd average 30 plus in CUSA womens hoops, of course, I can ball for a 30 something.

I guess my two cents is this. Doherty is our coach. The team is not playing well. Of course the buck stops with Doherty. But the problem is that we are not UNC, we are not in the ACC or the BE, and during the Tubbs search there were not many coaches deemed worthy of SMU who would even interview here. Firing coaches quickly does not make this a destination that coaches want to go to. Let's see if Doherty can turn this thing around in the next year or so and perhaps grow a little in the process. And lets see if some of the players are willing to man up and claim their roster spot. From the games I've watched its not Doherty missing wide open shots, its not Doherty shooting 60% from the free throw line, and its not Doherty who turns the ball over. Is part of the blame on Doherty, yes. But part of the blame is on the players who are either so fragile that getting yelled at makes them worse, or that they don't have the will and the drive to spend an extra hour or two or three in the gym working on free throws, working on their 18-21 footer, working on boxing out, or working on turning and shooting without dribbling. Practice time is for planning how your going to run your offense, run your defense, and going over the tendencies of upcoming opponents, its not supposed to be for re-learning fundamentals. Personal practice time is where you go from being a good high school player to a good college player. The players have some choices when they are not at practice or not in class or are not studying, eating or sleeping, they could be honing their craft. Or they can just enjoy having a scholarship at a great school, getting yelled at by their coach, and losing basketball games. Its up to them. Sooner or later, Doherty may be gone, or they may be gone, but ultimately, that won loss record while they were at SMU will be there forever.
