Thanks for the invite bagice. Message boards can be trail by fire , I expected someone to laugh, jeer , and give me a straight jacket as well.

Papa has his opinions . I got mine.

As for the nucleus of the team. That really is it. Nyakundi can shoot , I think it's been playing time more than anything for him and Walker.

My thought on the Sub patterns that has come up in most of the BB threads this week is that I think he is trying to put the game plan into more than two guys heads at the same time and then get them back into the games. The problem is that you have to go deep in the bench to accomplish that. You guys are right about the chemistry of the team when that happens tho. It stinks and it lingers. But the result is that you get a chance to implement more than one goal for the next several minutes because you got fresh legs and goals.

Disgrace.

I just got back from the disgrace (went out for a few drinks before coming home). I refuse to call what I just witnessed a "game" or acknowledge the participants as "teams", because none of them deserve those titles. What I saw was 2 loose collections of individuals floundering their way back and forth, up and down the court, doing a very, very poor caricature of college basketball. I really dont care which group wound up scoring more points, everyone who stepped on that court tonight should hang their head in shame. Or, at least refund the price of the audiences tickets, because that money was collected under false pretenses. The Houston group may have "won" the game, but they have nothing to be proud of, not after that festival of airballs and no look passes to people who werent paying attention. I saw people literally tripping over their own feet. I had to watch the Duke-UNC game afterward, just to keep the contents of my stomache from rising.

Which was more scintillating, the 30 combined turnovers, or the 40 combined personal fouls? I cant decide.

Late in the game, during the 12 minute stretch when SMU refused to score a field goal, I looked around the gym and said to myself "I remember a time when people used to sit in those seats.... Was it really that long ago?"

I know some of you will get upset with me for this, but I still think Disgrace is the only word that sums it, and I'm sticking with that one until I can think up something better.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.

same could be said for football. in fact, SMU Football might be the only NCAA sports team that our hoops team has a higher winning percentage than over the last 2 years.

Well the Orsini resume can proudly boast the worst combined winning % in the history of SMU for football and men's basketball, compliments of last year.
Obviously football this year did its part to challenge for that dubious honor. And now it looks like Doh is positioning his team to bring home the new low! Congrats to Orsini and his administration!!

I can think of some others, but it would cause this thread to get deleted.
I was to the point where I don't mind if we lose games this season, I just want to see some good games.

The most embarrassing part is inviting your basketball friends to the games.
I will not blame them when they make up a lame excuse next time I invite them.

Can't wait till football season......where I am sure I will say "can't wait till basketball season"

shoot me.

The MetroSports TV broadcast brings very little to the table, but they did provide the stat of the night...

Harp's layup early in the game was his first field goal of the 2009 calendar year!!!
We're nearly a month & a half into this year and he's a regular rotation guy...unbelievable. I don't care if you're in there for your great defense (or do we think it's great just b/c he's hustling more than his teammates, perhaps to make up for a lack of ability?), you should still be mixing in a bucket or two each game.
Just glad I had the Duke/UNC game on too because the 1st half of that game was on the complete other end of the spectrum from SMU basketball.

Maybe Doherty was distracted in the second half of his game because UNC-Duke was in the first half and he was trying to get updates.

Until last night he hadn't logged more than 8 minutes in 9 of the 10 games in this calendar year. Of those 9 games in which he played no more than 8 minutes, he had 3 games in which he played a totla of 3 minutes (DNP, 1 min, 2 min).
