Official SMU Marshall Game ThreadModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Official SMU Marshall Game ThreadNice to see the guys revolt against RoboDoh's Princeton offense and play ball. It was really amusing to see Doh let them. The end is near. Too little... too late.
Re: Official SMU Marshall Game ThreadGood effort in the second half, but no way the attendance figure of 2,110 is close. More like 1,110.
There might have been 20 students in the sideline section--the eight rows of bleachers were only pulled out to three rows and most of that sat empty.
Re: Official SMU Marshall Game Thread
The bleachers are always only pulled out to three rows because when we put the new floor in the crazies who work in the athletic department forgot about pulling the bleachers out when they decided on the floor's placement
Re: Official SMU Marshall Game ThreadWhat is the score?
Re: Official SMU Marshall Game Thread
Marshall: A lot SMU: Less Final
Re: Official SMU Marshall Game Thread(73-68...Marshall won)
Re: Official SMU Marshall Game ThreadI guess this means we are saving our game for the Big East.
Re: Official SMU Marshall Game ThreadLots of points and little defense in the 2d half.
Re: Official SMU Marshall Game Thread
actual attendance looked close to 1500 to me; remember that 2100 figure includes "THE 1500" and fewer of them are actually coming to the games these days
Re: Official SMU Marshall Game Threadfirst half attendance wasn't terrible, but second half was. Alot of people bailed at halftime. hard to really blame them. First half was just an ugly mess to watch. It basically made me uncomfortable.
Re: Official SMU Marshall Game Thread
that was the purpose of everyone leaving ![]() Once they quite listening to Doh and just played ball they looked good and almost pulled it out! I'd like to see the team that played the last 10 minutes play the rest of the way!!! Pony Up!
Re: Official SMU Marshall Game ThreadIt was neat to see the kids attack. I think there are a couple of things that I saw out there:
1) We have several players who can be successful in isolation situations - Jalen, Manual, Williams. It was nice to see players take advantage of that in the second half. the princeton should be a mix of what we saw - strong cuts, some isolation. What we do all year is have nobody aggressive and taking the ball to the hole, and instead we just throw the ball around the outside until we shoot a three. 2) We have a good team defense, but some less skilled individual players. When the game opened up in the second half, we weren't all going back and setting up camp in the defensive end. That exposes Jalen a little bit (love watching him play though), as well as Cunningham and Smith down low. But they can make up for it on the offensive end. If we could only combine Cunningham's length and Smith's thickness... The second half of this game and the SE Mizzou game are the only two where we aggressively have attacked the basket, and I thought it paid off in east. I know that we lost, but if we hadn't changed the way we were playing, this would have been a 30 point loss instead of 5.
Re: Official SMU Marshall Game ThreadDoh says in the presser it was his call to let them play more wide open. If that is true, I hope he and his staff see that this roster can play with CUSA opponents and we don't need to slow games down. Let 'em play the season out and let's see what we might have
Re: Official SMU Marshall Game ThreadGood call. You scored 54pts in the 2nd half against a good Marshall team. Just go with that style as much as possible. Clearly the "1st half" style isn't really working...against anyone.

I saw that, but figured the department couldn't have been that short-sighted to forget to measure the available space when they bought the new floor.
