not sure how you can say orsini got clipped - he was the one that had his big east announcement ruined by beudine - so i believe that is the reason you don't see him on this job for us. Its about time.

the ASU fiasco has nothing to do w/it. It was about consistently using Beaudine for trivial hires like assistant coaches, to get his back scratched later. Orsini wanted to use him on this hire, from what I'm told, in spite of the Big East upstaging. Turner wasn't having it, cause he's as pissed at beaudine as we are. Steve O not w/o say, and I didn't mean to say he was. He's just not the be all ,end all, in this decision process. That, in itself, is a pleasant change, if you enjoy competitive basketball. Its just not his strong suit. He does a great many other things well, and has a good overall record at SMU.

Hey hoop what's up with Danny Manning. Why isn't he a head coach somewhere?

dont disagree with anything you said - with the exception of i am sure orsini was also fed up with beudine and fully agreed with making a change there. Much of that was staged by him - and it was really handled poorly

For what it's worth, I've heard that Shaka to Illinois has been in the works since last year. The only question was when. The AD (?) or somebody there was at VCU and likes Shaka. It was supposedly going to happen whenever Weber got the axe. I guess we'll see...I checked the illinois website and the ad had no vcu ties...not sure but somebody of power there supposedly has ties to Shaka

I live in Seattle and have been watching Cameron coaching since he was an assistant at UW. He's a really nice guy, a good coach, and an energetic leader with a ton of upside. I'm kind of torn on this, because I love SMU but I NEED TO SEE SEATTLE U WIN more games and compete with the UW year in, year out. We need Cameron to stay where he is. So leave him alone. Go after someone else. Tommy Amaker perhaps (no athletic scholies in the Ivies) or Lehigh's coach. Or hell, even Norfolk State's coach. Just leave Cameron for us Pacific Northwesterners.

Everything you just said is why Dollar needs to be a candidate for SMU. Not only is he dynamic, he's Nike's favorite son. He's going to take a program that wasn't D1 in 09, to a league contender in possibly under 5 years. Also, Dollar is an Atlanta guy, so he's not the West Coast lifer, that many suggest Last night he picked up a verbal from Trey Dickerson, who is a very good player. I know he was on the radar of power conference teams and SDSU was just about to offer.

I would cry. I would seriously cry if he left Seattle.

While I will defer to others on his coaching ability, his record is simply not that good (I understand why) and might be difficult to sell to our younger players, our incoming recruits, and what few fans we still have. Given our past failures and the fact that the same guys are making this hire (less Beudine), I cannot imagine having that must "trust" in a decision like Dollar.

The players have one sit down w/Dollar and they're staying. Dynamic guy. Also, Nike's favorite son. He's basically Shaka w/o the benefit of being under Donovan. The reality is that the decision makers played it, what they thought was safe, once. Dollar is a dare to be great scenario. The upside is so immense, its worth an interview. If he gets an interview, he gets the job

LOL, show some love for the Mighty Mustangs. You know he'd kill it recruiting Dallas. Put Reggie back on the bench and call it a day

For what it's worth, ESPN seems to think Shaka Smart is the boosters' top choice for the open Illinois job.
