And those bad losses are about as bad as they get. I think we're (hopefully) still in, but we've quickly sent ourselves back to "on the bubble"... Quite a few games left to play. We can get back to being a "lock" or play ourselves out of consideration. It all depends on how our players and coaches respond. I have faith. Can't wait for the Houston game on Wednesday to hopefully get this terrible taste out of my mouth. UConn away next Sunday could be big.

There is no reasonable excuse for losing this one. You can point to a number of things: the road trip, the free throws, blown layups, Nic's foul troubles, yada, yada, yada, etc.
Remember: this is still a frosh-Soph/new transfer team with only two seniors ( who didn't step up yesterday). They only have 10 road games under their belts as a team. They will get better at dealing with situations like this. Games like this and USF are called "tuition." When we figure it out and get it right we'll be legit as a top team. It will happen but it's very frustrating getting there.

We pretty much have to beat Louisville, Houston, UCF, and Memphis or UCONN. If not, then we have to beat Louisville, Houston, UCF, and make a deep run in the conference tournament. Other than that, just win the conference tournament. Temple is bad for any conference, CUSA included.

Not a good look for the tourney committee with USF and Temple on the losses. Those are just plain awful. And they stick out like a sore thumb on a resume. I don't understand this team other than young and not knowing how to win on the road don't mesh well. Really hope they get it together, bout imperative to win a big one away from Moody or I think they are seriously on the bubble with quality wins only coming at Moody. That's a real issue and will be a big consideration.
We'll still get 25 wins though, right?

22 or 23 wins puts us in the tournament imo. I think we might be overreaching a bit but that is kid of normal for SMU fans. But if we beat Houston. UCF, and either UConn, Memphis or Louisville we are in the tournament in my opinion.

Huge overreaction here. We can afford a bad lessor two, no worries. Just beat someone on the road

It's still tbd to see how the committee sees this conference. I don't want to be the test case!

They should...23 heading into the AAC tourney. 2 wins there puts them at 25. I also can't predict them losing against teams that everyone and their brother has beat, I didn't really build that into the assumptions. Maybe I should plan on losses to Houston and UCF here?

lville is playing great ball. they destroyed ru and temple while we got by ru and were beaten by the worst team in our conference. i wouldn't say i am at zero confidence going forward but i'm getting close. uofh became a very important game. very important. i hope this doesn't upset the board policeman.

I don't think we're a bubble team right now. I think we are still solidly IN but there's a lot of basketball still left to be played. I think we're IN even with losses against UConn, Louisville, and Memphis IF we beat Houston and UCF. If we lose the opening round in the AAC tourney, though, that could possibly keep us out (OBF's point about away and neutral court resume). Win the first round and, given the above, and we're probably still in. Win the second and for sure we're IN.
But I may be overly optimistic.

http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com ... -rpi.html/our rpi (heavily used by the selection committee) is now 49. i don't think we can fall much further and still have a reasonable shot. depending on the conference tournament smacks of desperation.
