[quote]Lol, not upset just annoyed at the level of discussion. Great season, horrible banter, not that I'm contributing anything worthwhile in this thread lol. Sometimes you just have to vent[/quote]

No problem, I understand.

Yesterday doesn't change what a great ride this bb season has been. It's fun to be excited about something. Now football ...

I gave them all the way till feb 17th, that's pretty good for me lol. Anyway, back to more threads where guys I've never seen post, try to teach everyone else how to cheer at a hoops game. Maybe a thread about Keith Frazier needing more time

Thx man. I'm not going anywhere, just had to vent. I hate smu's front running nature, just bugs me to no end, couldn't take it anymore

May not carry a lot of weight, but I don't think I'm alone when I say you're one of the few names I look for around here for solid basketball knowledge. Always appreciate your thoughts and they're not getting lost in all the white noise.

Probably the best concise summary of this thread and the past 18 hours of PonyFans.com activity in general.

I waited 18 hours to get back on. Best decision I have made in a long time. Now I am calm.

I'll just add I remember checking the bball board where there was about 5 guys who posted even during the season. I jumped back in to going to games when a few decided to meet up at ozona for pregames. Those were fun time in OO and Ioved the CIT run, but this is infinitely better.

The board is still ok. I don't have much substance to add anyway so I don't mind the newbies.

I was wondering what had happened to HoopmanX. Now I know.

HoopmanX, glad you came back even if to vent. You are one Mercurial dude, but I like it.

A little noob disclosure here: I was an SMU athlete during the Dave Smith years and left Dallas right as the death penalty s**t hit the fan. I moved far away so I couldn't have attended games even if they'd actually HAD games. I've watched from afar always saddened at how those sanctions decimated an amazing athletic program.

As a New Yorker there's plenty to keep you busy sports wise but I've never been ashamed to wear Pony gear anywhere. I loved my time in UP....all ten years.

And, frankly, I didn't even know this board existed until a month or two ago. But I'm thrilled to be able to share both the thrill of victory AND the agony of defeat with people who really do care. So please pardon my enthusiasm, my meager post count and my sometimes sarcastic one- offs.

As with any message board I'm sure this one has had it's share of drama, has it's cheerleaders, curmudgeons, hotheads and narcissists. I just want to say thanks to any and all for caring about Mustang sports. It's really not about who is the best message boarder. It's about SMU sports. Go Mustangs.

Good to have you. What sport? Your handle will probably gain you some slack. Glad you found us. You'll pick up on the personalities pretty quickly.

This is such an idiotic thread.... Typical SMU snob bull [deleted] coming out

Hoop, you know way more about bball than me or just about anyone else on this board, but com'on man?

Yeah, let's go back to empty moody. [deleted] all these "band wagon" fans that show up and cheer so loud, the press level shakes. I hope these [deleted] don't come out to ford because then I won't be able to have my own section that I can curse loudly in anymore

You know, one way to build a fan base with a small school like ours is by getting those band wagoners to latch on and hope that some stick around when not all is well in the world

Just sayin

This thread is total Bull-shite.

a lot of us have been on again, off again with our SMU Mustangs. We are a glutton for punishment and, for those of us that might have been absent from time to time there are a myriad of explanations, yet we all come back for more, just for a taste of the good ole days.

I have always said and truly believe that if you are a true SMU fan then you have earned the right to jump on and off the bandwagon any Effing time you desire.

and being on PonyFans doesn't mean [deleted].

To the newbies: We always get circle-the-wagons-out-with-the-non-true-fans up in here after horrible, embarrassing happen to SMU. Expect that kind of zeitgeist and kindly ignore it. It'll pass.

Hoopmanx- we have certainly had our differences of opinion- especially when it came to doh and his contract/extension but we obviously agree that losing is a beatch and really very unaccepable.
I also respect your bball knowledge as I am primarily a football/futball type.

However we need all of the fans we can get. Guess it will make some of us a little more tolerant.

I just don't see it like that at all. You are either an smu hoop fanatic or you're not. I'm ecstatic so many young kids/students are having a good experience cause that could resonate into long term fandom. I just don't get the football sux,I might as well cheer for a winner in hoops mentality. Mostly though, i just think the level of conversation has diminished w the band wagoners? No biggie, just a vent
