Gonzaga had a pretty prominent "sit-down-Lar-ry" chant any time LB stood up

ElfBoy wrote:Luigi and Lobster got ejected upon the request of the opposing coach, which is honestly astounding that he could make it to where he is (granted, it is just Monmouth) with thin skin like that. I live with Luigi and he told me after the game that he coach just turned around to the police officer and said, "I want him out of here."

We got a lot of attention from the Texas Southern coach as well, but it was much more jovial. I think the problem is that with such little noise from the rest of the student section, the opponents and their fans hear every word, appropriate though it may be, loud and clear and get [deleted]. I'm really expecting better from upcoming coaches

God bless you. We need 100 more just like you. Keep it up! We old farts are LOVING it from afar. We had nothing like this when we were there. Enjoy this! And recruit more just like you!

Come on Oji, I was there 40 years ago, and got the Aggie point guard flipping me off as he ran by. Bullock the center from Tech gave me the stink eye. And much more fun and frolic over 4 years.

This old fart and the rest of the FB team was sitting directly behind the opposing team and coach which is not now allowed. We were relentless. The only one we could not rile or really get to was Abe Lemons who at that time coached UT Pan American. He could dish it right back and did it all with a smile on his face.

Yeah, when the students were in the bleachers directly behind the opponent's bench it was just ridiculous!

I didn't realize that opposing coaches were the co to DPD and the sheriffs department.

If you want the crowd to get into it. It would help if we all have the same color and drank more alcohol (responsibly?) [deleted] looks weak when everyone is wearing differently colors and shirts and are not rowdy.

Our crowd sucked and our two most fervent student fans, who happen to be dressed in game-to-game recognizable Halloween costumes, gets a lot of attention from the opposing bench. #shocked

You guys need to vary your costumes, the word is out on you!

In the Dave Bliss era we in the band were harassing the refs unmercifully during an exhibition game. So much so that Bliss came over to the band and asked us to cool our jets, explaining that the refs were working the game as a favor to him. Bliss was always a tightly wound coach.

Those were fun times. Getting under Bobby Knight's skin so bad he actually whined to the NCAA about it. That was greatness. I even remember a game when Peruna got ejected for making fun of the refs. It's part of the atmosphere; either get used to it or stay home.

When Bobby Knight was at tech and they came to town, officer Norris gave me about 10 verbal warnings for my language. Probably should have been kicked out.

I think my post was misunderstood. I didn't say THE CROWD wasn't rowdy in my day. I'm saying we didn't have LB and this type of team. I remember fondly the Richardson Hogs coming in here when they were a top ranked team and giving them all kind of "special welcome treatment" I knew how to get to them since I grew up with many of them. Also, some others . . . but they were always big beat downs. I think our win against UConn last year (and I'm sure Cincy and Memphis, too) were nothing like anything I ever experienced while there. All I'm sayin'.

Should not be thrown out in that situation.

I still have the DMN sports front page picture of my friends and I screaming at Bob Knight when Tech came through. Back then we could sit in the bleachers right behind the opposing bench and we took advantage of that. Knight even mentioned in the paper how annoying and inappropriate the students were.

Keep it up!

I don't know, seeing A&M's coach knock over the scorers table and throw chairs on the floor when we were beating them was truly a memorable moment. Many of those Terrell/Bullock matchups were about as intense as it gets.

There are far too few wardrobe malfunctions at games this year.

Perhaps as rush season heats up in January we will have more attendance from the sorority houses...
