Ha! I actually watched Airplane! last night, so that's where I got the inspiration ![]() "And as long as they're keeping score, there will always be people who try to do everything they can to put up more points than the other guy." -Brent Musberger

I like this. I'm sure I could come up with exceptions if I really thought about it, but solid rule of thumb.
Re: Police activityNever attack a man personally. Ever. In any circumstance, ever.
Re: Police activityI had no knowledge of Ollie's marital issues. When I first heard of the Who's your Valentine I thought it was just like Who's your Daddy yell. It was no big deal. Now if they were yelling Who's your slutty wife sleeping with tonight or something along those lines I would agree a little out of hand.

Re: Police activity
Happily for all concerned, you will never again get to sit behind a Maryland bench in Cameron Indoor. And ACC fans (not just Duke) won't have to risk assaults that are way beyond verbal in College Park. That said, I totally agree that the "Valentine" jab was well played and didn't cross the line.

My thoughts exactly.
Re: Police activityNo doubt that trashy went in all directions in the ACC. Ask the Mustangs soccer goalie what playing UMD was like in the final four when he had to move to the endzone with all their fans hurling filth at him the entire half. We're still learning this. The problem is of course that years of rivalries have been torn assunder in a big money grab. Ask Georgetown fans what a trip to Morgantown was like. Ask Duke fans what a trip to Chapel Hill was like. Ask Davidson fans what a trip to William & Mary was like. Familiarity breeds contempt. We had lots of great chants over the years for UT, TCU, Rice, TT, Aggies and now we have to think through the new world we live in. Just remember Rice, Rice, Rice.

Tell those kids to stop waving things in the air, it could cause the bleachers to collapse. Down in front!
Re: Police activity
I get your perspective and I used to think that way, but I'm beginning to think it's overplayed. I was despondent over Maryland going to the Big 10, but it's been great so far. No rivalries really, but far more games I want to see, based on opponents tradition and the fact we've never played at their house and vice versa. As the Northern-most member of the ACC for a majority of the leagues history, it was never a demographic fit. Maryland has basically nothing in common w/Dook, UNC, Clemson, NCSU etc. Terps fan base is Jersey & NY, not rural south. Every road trip stunk. Who wants to actually use money to go to Winston Salem, wherever Clemson is, Durham etc. Now we get to go to big cities and if when we do play rural, at least it's all new and different. Familiarity does breed contempt, but it's pretty easy to cheer against whoever your team is playing. In this case, the only Terp faithful who miss the ACC are nostalgic and quite old. Much like most who miss the SWC around here.
Re: Police activityHear ya Hoop and playing UConn, Temple and Cincy is a new experience in hoops for us. However, in the ACC with the original 8, you never had to drive more than 8 hours. Now in the Big X, the closest game is what 5 hours (Rutgers/PSU). After that you're getting the to 12-24 hour drive zones. Makes road trips and therefore rivalries much tougher. With the SWC, worst drive was Arkansas at 12 and Texas Tech at 9. Other than that 1-6 hours. Road trips with your fellow classmates, really worth it. Now our closest games are UH, Tulsa and Tulane. At least we have now about 40 years of history with UH and 10 years with Tulsa and Tulane.
