With a big push for Jolly and Sherman who would both come in as sophomores or juniors it seems like we need to force some attrition just to balance the roster. Otherwise we won't have any scholarships to give for the 2020 class. I love the prospect of adding the Jolly and Sherman but still think we would need to balance our classes better.
Agreed. That should be the least of our worries though. There is always attrition even if we don't have a senior. You would still recruit 1-2 freshman next season in expectation of attrition whether it be chase of CJ White, Cook or McBride don't play and leave, Ray gets hurt again and retires, Bandoumel (who is at least a Jr. w/ rumors he may only have one year of eligibility), Hunt or Mike go pro, etc. Right now the concern is can the staff actually close on 2-3 quality prospects... which i'll believe when I see it. Fingers crossed on Jolly and Sherman.

Bruce Pearl just said that having only 7 scholarship players hurt his team last year.
Obviously total nonsense.

Guards: Bandoumel, Jolly, Sherman, Douglas, White, McBride, Cook Wing/Forwards: Mike, Hunt, Chargios, Jasey, Ray, Young We are missing a point guard, but that wouldn't be bad at all. - McBride, Cook, and Young all get to take the year off at the back of the roster and develop. - You are going to mix 3 guard with 2 guard and 2 wing. Mike and Hunt will be out there a lot together. - Ray becomes the 5th option at the 4/5, which completely de-risks his availability. If he is back, it is a bonus. If not, Young eats those minutes at the end of the rotation. - If Douglas or White develop, it is a bonus and means more 3 guard looks. If not, then it is a 2 guard with Sherman as the main depth piece and you see Hunt and Mike together more frequently. - Odds are good with 3 well-regarded JUCOs that two will play well. So you de-risk that situation. 5 DITR recruits on the roster, but 8 good quality recruits mitigates that risk. Whitt/McMurray/Hunt/Mike/Ethan with a very limited bench was only good enough to get close losses in conference with a bad record. Juco/Juco/Hunt/Mike/Ethan with Juco, Jasey, and further developed players coming off the bench should be good enough to turn the close games into wins and finish above .500 in conference. Two of those JUCOs would need to be all conference to be better than that.

Last year we were all excited about Ricky Torres coming down to SMU/Wichita State. That dude barely got off the bench for WS and shot less than 30%. If we expect two Jucis to come in and save us, we are serious trouble.

I know that Whitt is doing the pro thing but has he done the agent route? Is he gone for certain or is there a chance he could come back.

The prevailing opinion is that if he doesn't get drafted he will grad transfer.

I’m not worried about Memphis. How’s their equestrian team? Ours may bring us a national championship (according to the DMN). And I don’t care that Aggie is about to sign Buzz Lightyear. He can’t recruit all the Texas players and our coach is just as dynamic. (Head buried in the sand seeking solace at the prospect of next year).

As ECM said, Douglas seems to have a higher ceiling and is much more polished. Landrum was very much a volume scorer in HS. He needs to become more disciplined and much more consistent of a shooter before you can expect him to be a starter or big minute guy. We are also in it for a few real good 2018 prospects.
Douglas is going to be a stud for us. Great kid from a military family with a great work ethic. I cant wait to see him play- he's everything we want from a student athlete on and off the court, and the offers he had (Marquette, FSU, Michigan, Oregon) speak to the kind of talent he has
Yikes...is there any way to scrub this from the internet forever?

Bottom line is that the guys Jank is bringing in aren't likely to compete well against the guys Memphis, UConn and probably Houston, Cincy, Wichita State, etc...are bringing in. SMU hoops hopes fading fast
