Huh? It's an awful story, but one that absolutely has to be told, and is really well reported. Whatever you think of Sam, the details of the story are infinitely worse. Does Mays have kids? What would he or Hart say if a coach told their kids to commit suicide?
I really shouldn't drink and type.

Sam Blum (DMN) now reporting that Mays will remain the SMU coach.
NEWS: SMU athletic director Rick Hart sent this message (tweet included JPG of message) to people in SMU Athletics. Travis Mays is staying in place as the Mustangs' head coach.
SMU president Gerald Turner hasn't responded yet to our request for comment on our story published Tuesday.

With that story hovering over this coach, and administration admitting there was discipline, why would you ever allow your daughter to play for him? It’s time ......

Current player feels differently. Always two sides to these kind of stories:

Hart has decided to go down with the ship.

Where is Turner?
Turner craves photo-ops and publicity and now he's no where to be found?

Not defending TM at all - but I heard Rhonda would publicly berate players, make girls cry, and push them pretty hard both mentally and physically. I can't imagine she would ever tell a player to go kill themselves though - which certainly crosses a line.
Am guessing that some of these same players would have hated Rhonda as well though.

Coach Doh was probably 10 times worse than Mays verbally

What Doh or any other coach may or may not have said does not make Mays's behavior acceptable.
If I told people I work with too kill themselves for any reason I'd be fired immediately. As I should be.

Not really. Everyone has supporters and friends. I am not surprised someone likes this guy. The issue is with the way he treated the girls in the story and Hart's unwillingness to be a leader. It's time for both to leave SMU.

Moving forward, I would hope Mays gets fired at the end of the season. The program is essentially dead in the water. Why would any parent allow or any athlete want to come play at SMU on the women's team with Mays running the program?

Agreed. If current team members are telling recruits to stay away, how can you even recruit?

From what I've seen, it's former, not current, players telling people to stay away.

Perhaps because current players are still vulnerable?
