jawjacking with other coaches and fans is not good for Doh. And there is a reason good teams usually kill us from 3 point land, its not just bad luck. we have small guards that are easy to shoot over.

Memphis plays at an NBA arena owned by the city of Memphis...THEY can hang whatever banners in their arena that they want to...that's why the 1985 and 2008 banners still hang...and will stay up.

and BTW, don't think it was not provoked, the SMU bench was ridden all game by the fans, if you dish it out, you need to take it. You showed us, you got the win, but if you are gonna talk sh*t all night, expect some back.

Good win tigers and for once, I am proud of Doherty for showing some grit.

Well, guess we could print up some fake banners and hang in our gym as well, you cheated, your best player couldn't get an entry level score on the SAT so he had someone else take it for him, your coaches and administration knew it happened, and still let him play, you can keep the banner up, but you didn't win those games, deal with it and move on, I like your new coach and am sure that you will be on top here soone, but get out of the gutter and realize what that season was.

that is not the way to defend your team Doh. I will say that SMU is not a trash talking group of kids by any means whatsoever, so they must have been provoked. Memphis players and fans were probably out for blood tonight after their embarrassing loss in Dallas.

if that makes you feel better, OK...but vacating wins is about the weakest form of punishment i can think of...OK...so it's not in the NCAA's record books...we'll keep our our banners up and notice ESPN/CBS/CSTV all still recognize our wins...you can't erase memory.

I would be proud of the coach if he found a way to lead his team to a win on their court. Talking back to taunting fans in classless and just idiotic. Yes, coaches and players have to take the taunting without returning it...it's part of playing on the road...

No problem, you had a great team that year, Calipari is slime and he ran roughshod over your school and let them sell their soul. I cheered for you all the way to the final game and its too bad CDR's bad FT shooting cost you guys a title. Like I said, I think you took the right steps, and I like your new coach and you will always be better than us. I just don't think you guys should get worked up by a little ribbing from Doherty about that season. I agree he should not have said it, but he is an emotional guy and was tired of all the heckling during the game. Just roll with it and good luck the rest of the season.

I didn't see the end of the game. Lots of RT's on this about Doherty. He needs to control his emotions that's for sure. Doesn't represent SMU well.

This is a new era coach - everything goes viral quickly. DOH!

All he did was get into a little discussion with the fans that had been heckling him all game, it happens all the time, unfortunately Memphis has an A-hole that sits on their bench and tweets all game.

I am not a big fan of Doh, but will give him a pass on this. Was a hard fought game in the most hostile environment that C-USA offers and SMU stuck with them despite one of the best shooting nights Memphis has had this year.

One other thing, it was close but we had more assists than turnovers for the second straight conference game. We had 4 players in double figures. SMU is playing pretty good ball right now.

Let's just try to finish the regular season strong. We need to certainly beat ECU and UH, and maybe take Marshall too. That would be a great finish.

Tulsa on the road is beatable too, I want this team to build on this and win out. We need to finish 3-1 at the worst, hopefully 4-0 and then make some noise in the tourney, otherwise, I want a new coach, we have a pretty talented team that is coming together, its up to Doh to take them to that next level.

Doh was funny last night. He shouldn't stoop to that level, but baiting that group of thugs and their ostrich fans is hilarious. Their next class is great, but I happen to know what Will & Antonio Barton's transcripts look like, so it's not like Doh was on a limb. That place is w/o standards.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones
