God bless the 1500...Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: God bless the 1500...I can remember living in LA in the late 90s and following SMU hoops online religiously. I would track the games and post on whatever fan site we had then, mustang maniacs or something. There were only about five of us who would post about the bball games, or gave a flip about it. Most only cared about football on the site back in those days. I made it out to Fresno and San Jose when the hoops team came to California. I was usually disappointed with the result, but always enjoyed it. Finally it seems like my commitment is paying off.

Re: God bless the 1500...once upon a time when I lived in Dallas and was part of the 1500, I remember losing to Rollins College at Moody...it was a small price to pay for the great seats I had in those years

I wouldn't worry about it. Just support the team. There's always a "better" fan.
Re: God bless the 1500...
I get it, no biggie… But some that may appear to be bandwagoners, have been hardcore SMU in the past. Me personally, I pretty much checked out after 25 years of attending and cheering, to raise a family and such. My wife at the time, couldn't give a rip about SMU athletics(even though she is an SMU 87 Alum). I was tired of the seemingly hopelessness of it all and was still a hardcore Mav fan from Day 1 1980 that had experienced very little payoff with them as well. ... So, the payoff finally appeared in the form of a 7 foot tall German and a surfer looking point guard showing up via the magic of Don and Donnie Nelson and I decided to go full throttle Mavs, split season tix with friends, etc. I watched mostly from afar the SMU BBall and Fball, with disappointment, but was paid handsomely by the Mavs who even when they came up short always played hard to the finish. Not until JJ appeared with the Football did I get back on board. And then LB comes on board and I've been to almost every game since. You know, SMU doesn't have the advantage of being mediocre or sucky and still pulling a reasonable crowd... so when we suck, it's damn depressing to be one of the only ones in the crowd. I guess what I am trying to say is hats off to all you 1500, you might have had more commitment, more time, more patience, whatever, than a lot of us… but we all have our limits, and we all have our priorities, and if you come back to root hard for SMU, you shouldn't be dismissed. and yes, some of the talk has been kinda weak on here lately, and I am sure I am guilty of it as well. GO MUSTANGS! Beat the hell out of anybody!
Re: God bless the 1500...[quote="Treadway21"]Good to have you. What sport? Your handle will probably gain you some slack. Glad you found us. You'll pick up on the personalities pretty quickly.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk[/quote Swimmer. Back when we won conference every year and were usually top ten nationally. But athletes in all sports were good friends, hung out with each other and went to each others games/ meets. I had off campus roommates those ten years who were swimmers, divers, football players, basketball players and even a random hurdler. I loved being there. Party at The Wopper!
God bless the 1500...I wish we had 40,000 bandwagon fans that come to football games! Great problem to have!
Welcome all!

It's like anything else, cheer and contribute, support the program however you can, but wade in slowly. We currently have a our newest verbals name spelled wrong on the front page of this message board courtesy of a guy w 9 posts. Bad look
Re: God bless the 1500...
Huge pet peeve of mine. We've also had threads started about Markus and Yanick in recent weeks where their names are misspelled by guys who have been around PFs for a while. Now I'm starting to think it is bit. One that's not funny and makes us look uninformed as a fan base. SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
