The NCAA picks the low-hanging fruit...yes from other's investigations (WFAA, DMN, civil/criminal cases), and also from folks that quietly guide them to that fruit by dropping information in front of them. They have never had the staff to grind out a major investigation on their own, and when they have tried, they have managed to muck it up by taking unethical short-cuts. (see U of Miami).

Almost all SMU violations in our lifetime without question were uncovered first by investigative journalism. That puts a little crimp in your NCAA conspiracy theory-because they NCAA simply did not discover hardly any of it. We can go over every allegation in SMU's probation history and I bet I can show you that the NCAA did not discover the violation but simply followed the bread crumbs

Good grief...what's the difference? If anything that just makes it worse. So, A&M and Baylor get a pass because they exist in shitholes with no major media outlets?

No, they get away with it because they've been doing it more quietly and less recklessly. According to some of the folks here, seems we weren't exactly hush-hush with some of our rule-bending. That's what put us under the microscope.

But if it all blows over with minimal damage (as some of the folks have said here), then that means the plan worked. We get a jump-started program and can focus on less risky recruits going forward. I consider that a win.

Anyway Hoop, its a new day and all is well, just remember, without sounding too pragmatic, I have learned over the years that people tell you what they want to tell you. Doesn't mean it always true. Just a word of warning for you to consider when listening to your sources/connections.

Maybe so, but these are my friends not sources

And that differs from Baylor about eight years ago and as it appears A&M this year? It does happen Hoop. Seems like all is good with those two programs. Why not SMU? I need details or you are just blowing wind.

Are you really saying you don't think A&M, and especially Baylor, is bending (or obliterating) any rules?

Of course they are, as is everyone who's any good
