Pretty freaking smart to me. Legal way to try and influence a kid. Didn't work so we are moving on.

Re: Maxey trackerWhy don’t we bring back LB in the same position that Hardaway is trying to use him for in Memphis? Keep him limited to coaching, primarily defense.

Re: Maxey tracker
"Reeks". As in, Jason B reeks of conspiracy theories and bad info.
Re: Maxey trackerI have no idea whether this kid would have been good for us or not. I’ll trust those who know more on that. But to a person like me, a layman in college sports, this makes SMU look terrible. Again.
How much did we pay Calipari not to poach him until the reseat was complete? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Mustangs Abu!
Re: Maxey trackerAppreciate the insight, hoop.
Bigger picture, does this mean we can move on from trying to recruit DFW? We made our name the past few years with players nowhere close to here and we seem permanently snakebitten in the area. Will this be a lesson for the staff or are we going to keep mining an area that seems to despise us? ![]()
Re: Maxey trackerClearly we have some good connections in Oklahoma, we need to maintain those. It would be great if Jank could reestablish his Illinois Indiana connection. We shouldn't just ignore DFW (way to many good players here) but we have to come up with a plan to actually get these guys to campus.
Re: Maxey trackerEast is East
and West is West But in Rockford West is Best. Sorry about that but I couldn't resist.
Re: Maxey trackerJankovich needs to hire former SMU baller Rod Hampton. He wanted the job when it was given to Maxey. He told me he was hurt & disappointed his school didn’t offer him.
What a great gesture if SMU was to bring back one of their own, who just happens to have a son who is equally as good, or possibly even better than Maxey. "We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors."
Re: Maxey trackerWould love to have a former player on staff. I've always believed someone truly connected to the school would be a more passionate recruiter
Re: Maxey trackerIt should have already happened but might as well do it now!
Re: Maxey trackerdidn't they change the rule effective after SMU hired Maxey
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Maxey tracker
So.... I actually watched him play one time and will share a few thoughts. I'm not a hoops insider so take it with a grain of salt. Here were my note from the game: - extremely athletic - can drive to the rim - can score at the rim - very average/poor shooter at the high school level - does not create for anyone else vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv I agree with all three of these quotes. I saw him play 3 times (twice in the state tournament) and I was wondering about his fit with SMU. One thing to add to the assessment above. He did not appear to crave playing defense.
Re: Maxey tracker
Trivia question: Who made more money last year? Tyrone Maxey or Warren Young.
Re: Maxey tracker
I don't want to know the answer to this...........
