Alright Debbie Downer. Yes, it was a ridiculously easy schedule. Yes, we should have had 10 wins before conference play started, but we didn't. I'm pleased that we have grown over the course of the season and have the chance of getting 4 conference wins (which is more than last year) with the experience drop off that SMU basketball has had to endure this year. Is it where we want to be? Of course not, but rebuilding takes time and if we see improvement over last season's conference record (which is a good indicator because we're playing the same teams, along with the fact that our conference moved up a slot in RPI) means quite a bit in terms of moving towards higher success.

I think we've talked about the cruddy performance in the non-conference season until we're blue in the face. That's why I revised my October prediction of 16-15 to lucky to get to 10 wins after I saw the Alabama State game.

I just want those, who were SCREAMING for a non-conference schedule to include UCLA, TEXAS, MICHIGAN STATE, TENNESSEE, GONZAGA and GEORGETOWN, to remember that.

We're in such a world now of instant gratification that we've lost the art of patience. Yes, we've been "patient" for 15 years after the last tournament appearance. But you're going to have to go a little longer, like it or not.

Of course, we would have gone to the tournament and the program may have moved in a different had that 1999-2000 hadn't choked away those TCU and Tulsa games at the end of that season. IMO, that week set in motion where we are now.

My son and I decided to go to the game @ 5:00 and are glad we did. First and last SMU game this season- I travel M - Th and too many Saturday activities these days.

I hate when UTEP plays at SMU - they are usually loud. U - Tep, U - Tep on offense and even De - Fense. Fortunately the SMU faithful took control of the noise towards the end of the game - better atmosphere.

Killen was amazing - didn't realize 29 of the 33 came in the second half/overtimes until I got home.

Papa/Bamba need to learn to power to the hoop for a dunk instead of short jumpers and finger rolls/hooks from 3 to 5 feet away. They seemed to miss a lot of those. Harp seemed to look to feed them whenever he got the ball - not sure if that was planned or fear of shooting.

Coach Doh was pumped after the game - deffered postgame interview to JK - lead the team in the warrior dance or whatever it was they were doing at mid-court following the win - lead the band for a bit too. Before the game he shook hands with everyone - even the kids with the towels under the basket. Class coach - look forward to the future!

I hate UTEP. Mustang Band did a great job of drowning them out.

give UTEP credit for traveling as well as anyone in CUSA-West. They do pretty well supporting a "middle of the pack" team. Tulsa and Houston have turned out when their teams are on top, but UTEP has the numbers. That helps everyone - and our guys play with more enthusiasm when there is actually some life in the stands.
