Hey Nick,

I could not have gotten into Duke let alone some buddy that you had. You ran with a tough crowd.

Hoopmax:

Nick Russell is really skilled! He has HM potential. He is a nice young man. His mom can see him play every home game. He MIGHT be like most players these days that put in their time at practice and leave immediately The "great" ones as you know stay in that $13 million dollar practice facility and out work everyone. That makes them special. They also are like sponges and absorb every word the coach says and what they have to do to improve. They listen, watch film, work on their weaknesses, and so forth. Coach Doh played with the greatest of all time in MJ. He can tell them how hard he worked. Coach K in an interview for the Olympics said " it is incredible how hard Lebron James works BEFORE and AFTER practice.

On another front, two Terps' recruits were given releases from their LOI.

East Stang - I did see that. John Goodman posts a list of all the current transfers. You can go google his name and see all the "unhappy" players who are transferring. Our French guy said in the Dayton newspaper he picked Dayton over Texas Tech, Towson State, and SMU. He said that he felt he could play inside and outside at Dayton and watched them play on tape and saw how they use their big men. Heck Papa played inside and out - he developed a nice three point shot at times. They do draw extremely well - 12,000 plus but hey, I spent a month in Dayton one night. You can't beat Highland Park in my opinion.

Come on Max; get back to SMU Basketball.

Nick Russell is really skilled! He has HM potential. He is a nice young man. His mom can see him play every home game. As you know at SMU, you can look forward, backward, left, or right and there is a beautiful young lady walking across campus. We get it, you don't think the kid works, or like his stats at a high major. We've also shown you many apple to apples examples, where change of scenery, and stepping down a level results is tremendous success. Go on defending the kids from message board posters though, all while declaring that Russell doesn't have any work ethic. both sides of your mouth are moving

Are you saying that Chris Duhon from Salmen High School in Slidell, Louisiana who didn't have a car in high school and had to hitch rides with friends or borrow his mothers 1972 Volkswagen Beetle is suddenly driving a black 2000 Nissan Altima with the license plate CDOO 21 while at Duke?

Are you saying that his mother Vivian Harper moved to Durham, N.C. to be close to her oldest son Harper, who got a job at a company run by a Duke basketball supporter, and she now drives a 1993 Jeep Cherokee? ( Remember we are talking about 2003) The North Carolina motor vehicle records also showed that she owns the Altima. It can't be true Hoopmax.

Are you telling me that Vivian Harper landed a job working for a Duke booster and that co-workers say the job opening was never posted and that Harper was over paid and lacked qualifications?
Are you saying she was the only candidate for the position?

hoopmaxs, stay with me now - Are you saying that Harper nearly lost her house in 1999 in Slidell due to her failure to make mortgage payments but the next summer rented the house out and headed for a two bedroom apartment in Durham? There she found a job at NCM Capital Management Group, a billion dollar money management firm owned by Marceo Sloan, who displays in his office the basketball he received as a gift from Duke's 1991 National Championship team?

That's almost a cut n paste, very nice. How about Nate James?

Hoopmax: I shoot straight on partner! Never one to talk out of both sides of my mouth and you can read it to what you want. You said those things about Russell, not me. You assumed and in my line of work, you never assume something WG.

Hoopmax: There are jock sniffers in this word! I have never said Russell doesn't have a good work ethic, you said that. I said most players don't - because most of the time they listen to the "hanger" on types. it is their one and only "connection" to be a big shot . Their HERO is probably Sonny V. We will pray that kids stay away from "shady" characters (not saying you) that don't have their best interest. Seen the " Look at me types out there on the curcuit.I can help you get so and so list and I know so and so - he is on my cell phone. There are just "agents" for lack of a better term who are not good for the game. Now let me correct you - I am talking in general terms and not about you so don't assume this conversation is about you.

Wow. Ease off. I'm guilty as anyone, but we've been asked to cease the personal attacks.

Second and long; you are correct. But let's face it, there are jock sniffers, they have some money or coach an "AAU" team and now all of a sudden they are "important" and know Coach so and so. They think they can "control" the young man and you have to go through "Mr.Big Shot" in order to get the player. Mr. Big shot claims to have the kid's best interest but should be listening to his parent/parents and high school coach and college coach. They know it all about Duke, Kansas, etc. and all the dirt so they claim. So now they can be a big shot in the coaching world and on the poster board. They are the kind that you STAY AWAY FROM. I deal with the same people in my line of work - we attempt to get people to educate them that they have to have good role models ( which should be their parents) and yet they make a mistake and think it is cool to hang out with so and so and then trouble starts. Now Hoopmax, don't assume I am talking about you. I am making a general statement about certain AAU coaches and the "Good" guy that is our for the "best" interest of the young man. Most people have a life. Some AAU coaches do have the best interest of the team. Conley from Memphis - his dad coached him in AAU and had the best interest of everyone on the team. Mr.Conley who was a world class trackster at Arkansas didn't have all the answers and dirt on Duke, etc. Those kind ( not saying you hoopmax) usually have their hand out.
