I loved that Seattle Sonics team.
gus williams
freddie brown
jack sikma
dennis johnson
lonnie shelton

gus williams and fred brown lights out from long distance, too bad no 3 point line. ahhh, tape delayed tv playoffs, it was great.

As far as Auerbach, you need to remember, he was loaded with HOFers and the NBA had what 12 teams, and most made the playoffs? Those Celtic titles were incredibly easy by todays standards. of course he did have to go through Chamberlain every year.

He won a championship probably without one HOFer on it, that's unbelievable. Maybe Rip or Billups sneaks in, but not very likely. Anybody can win with last year's Heat team or the '96 Bulls, or the '68 Celtics. But very few could win with that '04 Pistons team especially in the middle of that Spurs dynasty there.

The only such team without a true Superstar since...? Maybe the 1979 Sonics?

Dennis Johnson is a HOFer and Jack Sikma is a borderline candidate.

DJ was really good. I forgot he got elected. He had a lot of good years in the 80s with the Celts, I think his HOF legacy was partially due to some of the guys he played with. Don't get me wrong, great player in his own right but he certainly was the beneficiary of some great players around him and many championships.

Jack Sikma should be in HOF, IMO, but probably won't be..

14 years, avg over 15 PPG 9.8 rebounds, perennial All Star, 85% from the line for a big man.
