UT Tyler, huh? I wonder if they could beat Puerto Rico's Olympic team?

If a softer schedule will help these guys get off to a good start and build some confidence (not to mention giving more minutes to some guys off the bench), I'm all for it.

I haven't seen the full schedule yet, but understood we had dates with Baylor and TTech again this year. I was afraid that after last year's game, Knight would try to get out of the SMU series.

Hey, I'm all for playing a few cupcakes in bball to help the team's confidence, but we wont even get credit for a W in our RPI against UT-Tyler. They only count wins and losses against division 1 schools....not division 2 or 3, whatever UT-Tyler is. IMO, UTA would be a better choice.

Is the game in Tyler? Maybe Tubbs is after a player out there?? There has to be something to him scheduling this game.

I say we drop UT Tyler... & play the Olympic loser of USA v. Puerto Rico!

No problem. Surround Tim Duncan with all five defenders and invite Richard Jefferson and the rest to keep clanging bricks off the rim.

DMN says the game is at Moody. I can't imagine anyone at R.E. Lee or John Tyler that Tubbs is hot after. TJC may have someone.

is it possible that it is just and exhibition game, similar to playing those all star teams that tour around the country at the start of every season?

my guess is that SMU was looking for someone they could afford to play. Home games against quality opponents don't come cheap, and with only 1500 paying customers we can't afford an attractive home schedule. When we do get someone to come in (that commands a $50k paycheck), we have to charge "premium" ticket prices and everyone complains.

If SMU was capable of putting 7500 or more fans in Moody night after night, we'd have a much more attractive schedule.

I do think games with UNT and UTA are a good idea and we should be able to make some $ scheduling home/home games with them as well as TCU.

I believe Abe is exactly right, the NCAA is letting teams play games against lower division teams as exhibitions now. The womens team played Abilene Christian last year as an exhibition. So, this game wouldnt count in the seasons totals, or the RPI. If it makes anyone feel better, Fresno State is playing Fresno Pacific and Cal State Monterey Bay in their first 2 games.

Guys, I believe we will find that there is one easy answer to this question. I believe it is a regularly scheduled game and BHop has to sit out one game as a result of the Global Games penalty this summer -- so -- why schedule someone good with our only point guard sitting out?

Rackauskas is up to 255, but he could run the point against UTTyler.

Warn us, CP, when you plan to stop complaining about lack of attendance. I can understand the occasional whine as it really is frustrating that more don't decide to come. But holy smokes! Doesn't your record player have a flip side?

Get your head outta the sand for godsake--Are you going to say the same thing when we have to drop to D-1AA in football because we cannot average 15k at home this year? People don't talk about SMU's attendance problems enough on this board, sunshiner.
