FOUR fouls in the first half. Damn.

What I don't understand is why our PG is taking more shots at the basket than anyone else on the team. He had 14 attempts of which 8 were from three point range. He only made 25% of his three pointers. Now while he did hit 50% of his 6 two point range shots, two of those were on layups. He really needs to start dishing the ball out and let someone who can make a basket have the ball.

Bryan is a guy who has proven many times he can score. The best way for a scorer to shake a slump is to keep shooting. And maybe this game was so far out of hand that he should have kept shooting, because the way Tech played, we weren't going to beat them tonight. I hope Bryan shoots a million shots a day and comes out blazing Saturday night. He's a great player who will bounce back.

Hopkins is just horrible this year. Here are his 2004 numbers:

Turnovers - 5.25 gm

This might be okay if he was still a freshman, but he hs 2 years of experience behind him and he is still making the same old freshman mistakes. Throw in the fact that he costs us 2 scholarships for this type of production and I am starting to lose patience with him.

Bench him indefinitely. Seems indifferent. "Oh, my shot is just not falling now." Was cause of many of 25 TURNOVERS!!!!

Bhype might be the biggest bust in SMU basketball history. Unfortunately, Killen is not near good enough to play 30+ minutes a game.

Holy crap - WAC Freshman of the Year, all-conference guy, and now he's a bust after four games? Right - he stunk last night (and frankly, he hasn't played well yet this year). So did everyone. There was nothing pretty or positive. It was also one game. Where was this criticism last year? Justin Isham started out strong and then went through a stretch (longer than four games, I might add), and nobody tagged him as a bust. Players have hot streaks and cold streaks. Right now Hopkins is ice-cold. Throwing the "bust" tag on him, though, is ridiculous. The Ponies got torched. But let's not go overkill here, huh?

Hop led the Wac in turnovers last year, and that was probably why he was snubbed on the all conference team selections. If he is going to turn the ball over 5 times a game, he needs to get at least 10-15assists per game to redeem himself. When Illinois beat Wake last night , they had 6 total turnovers for the game. Deron Willianms did have four turnovers but then he had 11 assists. Hop has to make the players around him better. I would rather he focused on passing and making no mistakes than trying to force things on offense by taking bad shots so quickly.

We've all seen in his first two years that Hopkins has a lot of talent. And he's healthier this year than in his first two years. But he was very average against UTT, and he deemed to get worse against OSU and TT (didn't see the Montana game, of course). I don't know what the problem is. It's not a lack of talent. Is he trying to do everything himself? Is he trying to be flashy by making the difficult pass instead of the simple one? Does he not trust his teammates? As bad as he's been, I see his performance as a sign of encouragement. He can't perform like this all season. (Having said that, I'm thrilled that Killen seems to be a little better than advertised.)
