Boys' basketball player of the week: TCA-Addison's Matt Williams
Senior guard has strong pedigree

What he did: Williams scored 133 points during four games of the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Tournament on Thursday through Saturday. TCA-Addison dropped the first game to Carrollton R.L. Turner, but won three straight to capture the consolation championship.
Matt Williams Who is he?: Williams, a 6-2, 185-pound senior shooting guard, is averaging 34 points through 16 games in TCA's up-tempo offense. A three-year starter, Williams averaged 22.9 points as a junior and was named all-state.
The stats: Williams scored 30 points in the loss to Carrollton R.L. Turner and scored 26, 44 and 33 points in victories over Jewish Community Center, Carrollton Ranchview and Terrell. Williams' season-highs include games of 61 and 53 points. He has scored less than 30 points only seven times. He has made 69 3-pointers.
He said it: "I don't like to be a ball hog. I do like to score pretty much every time I get the ball. That is pretty much my job on the team."
Coach said it: "He's just so good. If you let him shoot he's going to make shots. If you try to close in on him, he'll get around you." -TCA coach Marty Nichols.
Did you know?: Williams said he is getting interest from SMU, Pepperdine, TCU, Baylor and Texas Tech, but hasn't received any offers yet. ...Williams' grandfather, Max Williams, starred for SMU and Avoca High. Max Williams' career high at Avoca was 61 points, which he witnessed his grandson match against Plano West on Nov. 20. ...Williams' mother, Claire (Morris), also played at SMU. ....Williams also plays shortstop and pitches for the baseball team.[/url]
