Big Road Trip

This is a huge road trip weekend for the Ponies. They get to play at Nevada and get accustomed to the thin air they'll feel when they play in the tournament. Then they go to play a much improved Fresno team. Sweeping Fresno will be tough. Beating Nevada on the road will be no picnic. A split would be a great step forward.

I haven't heard the injury situation. Realistically, expect a Nevada double digit loss and a probably loss @ Fresno.

I fully expect an 0-2 road trip this week, but I still have hope for a successful ending to this season. After this week the schedule gets easier, and the injury to B Hop could end up being a blessing in disguise as long as he comes back quickly at 100%. The emergance of Pearson as anolther scorer was much needed and if he keeps it up when Hopkins returns, well, I think anything is possible. We would still have to make the WAC tournament final to have a shot at the post season, but it's possible.

this will be a tough trip. Even at 100% health, it would be tough to get a win. We don't match up well with Nevada and I don't think we have ever won at Fresno.

I think we won there once, on a buzzer beater by Chad Elsey.

I believe you are thinking of UNLV, not Fresno. Am I wrong?

We have beaten Fresno at Fresno, it was during the Sasser era. I don't remember if there was a last second shot or not.

Elsey's last second shot was at UNLV. We won at Fresno by 10 in the spring of 2000. If I remember correctly, Courtney Alexander missed the game with a back injury.
