Can't stand it!

I've had it with the half times at bball games. Surely we can come up with something other than little girls dressed like sluts. The stunt bikers was entertaining. The dogs were entertaining. Hell, even the break dancers are nice every once in a while. But pips? Come on. I don't want to watch a bunch of kids dribbling basketballs. I'm sure the 'cute' factor works once or twice, but that has to be dead by now. And I REALLY am sick of 6 year old girls dressed like whores doing dance moves that they don't understand the purpose of. (sex appeal). I understand this gets their shallow mothers in the stands so they can dream of their lost youth and live vicariously through their daughters, but come on. FIND SOMETHING ELSE!!!! ANY THING. What about mascot basketball? How about we just have peruna jump on his pogo stick the whole time. That at least doesn't make me feel dirty to watch.

Who do I email about this? Marketing?

Fresno gave a prize to the one millionth fan who had been in their arena the other night. We could do that in Moody ifor halftime entertainment sometime in the next century.

Did you see a bunch of derelicts in raincoats at the game? Pee Wee Herman might like that act. All I can say is that if you like that entertainment, your face would probably be on some perv alert website.

What ever happen to letting the Mustang Band perform the halftime shows?

Back in the 70's and before, the band performed halftime shows of favorite Mustang Band songs, football charts and even performed music from the latest Pigskin Review.

I thought the doll (twirler) was outstanding halftime entertainment. Of all the years of being entertained by the Mustang Band, I think she is probably the best doll ever (looks and talent). Just wish we had the 96 guys (or persons) to go with her. Get the "old" Mustang Maniac costume out of the Smithsonian and put it on ol' Mavs Man and let him put on a show. Relays/contests with SMU students/athletes can be funny/entertaining like when they had that obstacle/shooting course a couple of years ago. Or maybe someone knows Paul McCartney... he has a spirit store on Hillcrest, doesn't he?

...IF we were 17-4, ranked 11th. in the nation, on our way to the "show" for the 5th year in a row, with 7800 fans at EVERY game, I am sure the 12 year old sluts, and goofy halftime shows would be tolerable...no?? Funny what years of freakin' losing does to our collective perspectives......it's a "tribal thing", we NEED something good, anything good to happen to our tribe. Long Live Phil Hale.

We wouldn't be having such terrible half-time shows if we were in that position. The baton twirler at the most recent game was quite enjoyable, though. I wouldn't mind seeing her perform again.

us fans are just like the family dog, we need a bone once in a while. Man, is it time, but you can't take frustrations out on people who don't have anything to do with history, ie Bennett and Tubbs didn't create the starvation of the tribe.

DickerJames, Pony88, and a few others got positive results from sending e-mails to the DMN re: WAC scores and all. Maybe similar results could be obtained if we start complaining to the AD/Marketing about the halftime shows and lack of real entertainment. Just because a team doesn't have a winning record doesn't mean the fans should suffer through a mind-numbing event that's loosely called a halftime show.

The kids doing their little cowboy dancing routine and the little basketball dribblers really should not be seen again :)

The flying biker ramp was great!!

Winning cures this, but these shows over the past couple of years have been quite a joke.

new music...mix in some new stuff

i am a big fan of our band and its impact upon the fans...sometimes they are the only support out there, but how about some new stuff...i know they must have more of a repertoire than the 5 or 6 tunes that they repeat at every game...i guess that if i only went to one or two games a year i would not notice...ok...now take your shots at my comment

you should listen more closely - we play probably 15 different songs a game out of a folder of about 40, without repeating anything except peruna or pony battle cry type things.

The band also has another performing problem.

They are not allowed to play until the anouncer has finished the advertising/promo messages. When you only have a few minutes during a time out, then you have to wait for the commercials, that only leaves about a minute to play something.

While the band has a large number of songs they can perform, there are very few that are 1 minute long, or can be stopped in the middle.

They've actually changed this last rule so that we play first then the announcer does his thing. They finally realized it helps with the atmosphere of the place.

Back to the dancing prosti-tots...it wouldn't surprise me to learn that this idea comes out of this one woman in the marketing department who insisted on yelling at the band last game for making too much noise. I understand that there were Wac officials there, and we couldn't play drums or bass when the ball was in play, but she kept yelling at us when we did anything other than just sit and cheer, like hit drumsticks together. This lady obviously got handed this position, because just looking at her, she obviously is not a sports person. I don't know HOW she got this job, but she needs to be working at Meadows or something, because she obviously doesn't know what athletic spirit is about.

Anybody know who this is? She was wearing like a black outfit with a bright PURPLE pancho/smock/blanket-with-a-hole-in-it thing. Seriously, people like that should not be working for athletic departments, period.
