There was even an editorial in the Daily Campus today telling the students that they should go to the game.

The students do read the daily campus, as bad as it can be at times. The editorial was pretty good, holding students for the apathy apparent on campus. I bet we'll have a good turnout tonight, 3500+, and I imagine several La Tech fans will be in that number.

I know I'll be there tonight! Bring a friend, wear RED, and don't afraid to cheer in the first half. You don't have to wait until the last 5 minutes of the game to get up and yell and clap. Let's give our boys some signs of a home court advantage!

Bring Your Friends & Yourself

Postby The Falcon » Wed Feb 16, 2005 1:37 pm

This is a big game for SMU tonight. We need to have this one and the one on Saturday at Toledo to put us on a roll going into the UTEP away game.
UTEP is not unbeatable. After that, we could have wins over Tulsa and
Rice at home to end the regular season. If this team could get well for
the tournament and come in with either a 7 game winning surge of
even 6-1, we could do some damage in the tournament.

I know I'm smoking green lettuce leaves, but ...

I will be there and I'm bringing 4 people with me. I brought 7 for the
Hawaii game and 7 for San Jose. If the faithful 1,500 fans would each
bring 4 other people, we would have 6,000 - 7,000 fans in the stands.

Please bring people.

MS: The students may read it...but they won't do a damn thing. Are you kidding? It's Wednesday night. They can't miss another episode of "Lost", "The West Wing" or "American Idol"!!!

Actually MM1965, I think an editorial like that will help, maybe significantly. MS is right, students do read the DC all the time, it's something to read thoughout the day or during breaks or slow periods of class. Usually there isn't even a mention of a basketball game in there on gameday, at least now students will actually know a game is going on. We'll see what happens, but I'll be there, nice to have a game on a Wed. night for a change.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if more than the 'usual suspects' from the student body show up tonight. Call me pessimistic. And I'd be interested in knowing if anyone from the infamous ED BOARD of the DC shows up, too. Let's see if they follow their own advice. Lip service is one thing...action is another. I guess after seeing the student sections on TV at the Texas Tech, Duke, Wake Forest, Syracuse, etc. games, I'm a little jaded. And for god's sake...why is SMU's student section seated behind our team's bench and not at the ends of the court, like other schools are? At least the Mustang Band is at one end!!!! The Hub of SMU Spirit!!!!!

there will be more students there tonite simply because its Wednesday nite not Thursday nite-doesn't take a genius to figure these things out. If you don't understand why don't ask -you are too OLD or possibly TOO YOUNG!

Oh, Stallion! You cut me to the quick! Let's see: Monday nights are fraternity/sorority meeting nights. Wednesday night...obviously none of our younger Mustangs are going to church because we're Methodists, not Baptists! And on Thursday night...well, heck...even *I* know that the weekends begin then and it's PARTY NIGHT!!!! Would an SMU student miss a party for a basketball game??? Ya gotta be kiddin' me!!!!!    Of course, I don't party like that anymore so I do my best to make a Thursday night game, too.
