From where I was the student section looked almost full. Great turnout students!

WOW. Take off those rose-colored glasses, my friend. I looked over the railing from my vantage point in section D (as suggested by ponyfans poster "PK" earlier today) and saw maybe about a dozen or more students than usual for a weeknight game. And if that's a 'full section'...that's sad. I applaud those students who DID show up!

Sweet Christmas, Mustangs! Students should be turning out in droves to support this team...but, no...once again only a 'handful'. Too bad. The rest of the student body missed a helluva game! I'm glad I was there!

Exactly how big is the student section? If for some reason, we had great student interest, would there be seats for them.

Well...from where I was sitting in section D...there sure were a LOT of empty seats throughout Moody Coliseum that I'm sure the students could get their butts into!!!! In fact, by my calculations, there were about 6,000+ extra seats available!

I was very pleased with the student turnout, better than its been in a long time, looked like alot more than just a dozen extra to me. The overall attendence, however, dissapointed me a little, I thought it would be better on a Wed. night instead of the usual Thurs. games. For those of you that weren't there, its your loss.....missed an outstanding win and great effort by the shorthanded Ponies.

Best student turnout yet, but it's still lacking

I agree that the student support was good tonight - the best I remember it being this season - but it's got a long way to go to be acceptable in my book. There were maybe 100-150 students in the section. I went to school in the late '80s, and we always had the bleachers FULL behind the SMU bench, plus half of the bleachers behind the opposing bench. And then the overflow would go into the end zone seats on the North side. Granted, that was for supporting NCAA tourney teams and better-name opponents in the SWC.
If we win, they will come, just like the fans off the street.
Let's not set such low expectations that we take tonight's student attendance and think its too great.

It appeared that all but maybe a hundred or so were SMU fans. I saw very few Tech fans...so we had maybe more than 1000 in excess of the loyal 1500 there. It's a start...and a game like tonight's has got to get one ready to see more.

Outstanding student attendance? Ha! "Improved" at best. Do they not own a freakin' RED shirt (or is that asking too much, too soon)? Are our few fans just too sophisticated/cool/snobish to wear school colors?

Did you notice today in the DMN that Reay was handing out flyers for the game in the student center?

we attracted about 2,000 plus last Thursday Nite and about 2,775 or so on Wednesday Nite. May not sound like a lot but that is about a 35% increase in attedance which is significant. Ban Thursday Nite Basketball for ever.

I wonder if that was part of his 'doghouse' punishment...or if it was something he did on his own?
