Winning cures cancer

Postby Sam I Am » Thu Feb 17, 2005 9:12 am

Three wins in a row at home, with this one by a major comeback, makes me giddy. Moreover, the team is steadily improving for a change. In the recent past, our losses had begun to demoralize the team and the fans. By the end of the season our former teams had quit trying. Now look at them. Do I expect great things in the WAC tournament, maybe not. The kind of changes the team is making will show up eventually, if not this year. Let's be content with what we have for the moment, a three game win streak. It has been a long, long time since we felt good about our teams hasn't it.

Our record. Beat Toledo!

Postby Sam I Am » Thu Feb 17, 2005 9:19 am

Our BB record to date is:
Season Home Away WAC
12-10 9-3 3-7 7-7

We have three tough games on the road now - Toledo, Boise State, UTEP.
A win against any of these games will feel good, but beating Toledo might be the most important of all. It's the first road game, and that could build upon what has just happened at home. It could get us an NIT invitation, depending upon our season finish. What are the chances?

NIT chances are not so good. My guess is we would need to win 4 out of our last 5 and get to championship of the WAC tourney to even get considered at 18-12. Even then its dicey. The bigger problem is injuries. When you go on the road, lack of depth and experience will kill you. Sometimes you can get away with it at home with good effort and good coaching, but the road is much tougher. Always has been, always will be.
