New academic standards

Article in DMN talks about how far Big 12 has to go but mentions that SMU asked for an adjustment in figuring score for football and tennis, The really intersting thing is that our football team scored higher than tennis. I'll bet few schools could claim that (:

I wonder how the DIV 1 report cards are determined. Are the scores based solely on grades? It would seem that it would need to factor in the academic quality of the school and the nature and difficulty of the courses being graded.

I don't know but USA today has a list of who all would qualify today by conference. Big 12 is 0-12 when seeing if both fottbqall and basketball pass muster. WAC SMU, Tulsa and Rice do-

I don't think SMU football does yet until the correction is made.

You are right, however, the way I read the article, SMU was certain that the modifications would be accepted. I still think it is funny that the football team had a higher score than the tennis team. Damn tennis thugs coming in wreaking havoc on our school's reputation!!!
