DALLAS (SMU) - SMU freshman post player Janielle Dodds sustained a left foot laceration Monday night, which required stitches. As a result, the Fairfax, Va., native will not play in Thursday night's Sportsview.tv WNIT game at SMS in Springfield, Mo. Sophomore Katie Gross is expected to start at the forward position and junior Sarah Davis will move to the post position.

Just saw this at SMUMustangs.com! This is a huge blow for the Mustangs. But, now we can see who will step up and lead the charge.

Sarah played a lot of post last year, Shonte will need to provide some big time play off the bench and Brittany Barker will have to give them some quality minutes as well. This is where only 9 players really hurts. While some of the girls are hurtin', this is the first real injury bug to bite since after the first game when Juli broke her finger.

I'll still be by the channel tomorrow night and I hope everyone here will be as well.

If anyone can find a way around this problem it's Rhonda - probably the second best coach at SMU behind the soccer coach.

I'm more interested in how she hurt her foot. What was she doing to cut it this badly?

With all due respect to Coach Rompola .... the best coaches at SMU are The Great Schellas Hyndman, Jim Stillson, Steve Collins, Carl Neufeld and John Cossaboon

With that said, if she leads the Ponies to a win Thursday, it'll be her best single-game coaching job ever. I saw the Ponies play twice this year, and Dodds was sensational.
