I originally put some recruiting information about this 6-9 or 6-10, 225 pound recruit in a post on the Football board, but apparently he is making an April 8 official visit to SMU. He is a 2005 recruit so apparently we have another scholarship to give. Only offer is South Carolina who leads. Other interest coming from someone at Tennessee although I don't think they have hired a coach yet and perhaps Ga Tech.

I thought I read that Tennessee was about to announce the UWM coach as their new head coach.

Bruce Pearl is the new Tennessee coach. He was at the Lady Vol's game last night in Philadelphia.

And he's a good coach.
Would this guy be recruited in addition to the forward from Oregon, or in place of?
And why has the Oregon guy's commitment been relatively quiet?

I believe signing date is April 13.

I appears that Theryn Hudson has picked up a few more offers and currently lists us as a low interest. Hopefully we can change his mind before signing day.

what source are you basing that on. My reports were from South Carolina newspapers within the last two weeks. Rivals has older info.

From various newspapers:
Hudson Narrowing The Field
Center Theryn Hudson (6-10 225) of LaVergne, TN appears to be down to USC, SMU and Middle Tennessee State according to his coach Barry Wortman. Hudson has made visits to USC and Middle Tennessee and will visit SMU April 8th. Wortman said he's not sure Hudson will make his propsed trips to Austin Peay and Murray State. Wortman said things...
(Mar. 31)
USC leads for Theryn Hudson of LaVergne, Tenn., but he will make other official visits before making a decision. Hudson visited USC earlier in the month.
Hudson’s coach, Barry Wortman, said Georgia Tech and Tennessee have shown recent interest in Hudson.
Hudson will visit SMU on April 8 and will take unofficial visits to Middle Tennessee State and Austin Peay. He also plans to visit Murray State.

RIVALS UPDATE 4/07
"Sleeper pospect Theryn Hudson, one of the better big men still availiable in the 2005 high school class is preparing to visit SMU this weekend."
Has been leaning toward South Carolina according to his coach but with SC Coach Odom considering the Virgina job Hudson is not sure where he stands and his prior offer status if Odom leaves. Hudson wants to decide by signing date on April 13. Also considering Middle Tennesse St. Averaged 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4.5 blocks last year.

Odom has denied over and over that he's going to Virginia, but he refuses to confirm that he's absolutely staying at South Carolina. He's 60 years old, and I would be kind of surprised to see him leave, but at Virginia he'd get a hugely talented team of under-achievers which could make a deep run. Gillen could recruit, but apparently couldn't reign in that talent. For a good coach looking for a great swan song, UVa. might be a great place to go. But long term it is a coach killer. Ask Pete Gillen and Jeff Jones.

Odom is a better coach than Gillen or Jones.
Didn't hurt Terry Holland much. He could recruit a little (they had a tall kid named Ralph a few years back), and he could also coach.
I'd bet Odom ends up there. Soon.

I'm now living in Columbia during the week and Dave Odom has not denied anything. He just says he's met with his team and otherwise has no comment about the talk he might be headed for Virginia. If they want him badly enough to make him a much better deal than he has with USC, I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave. With Reay leaving anf Ritter trying football, I have to wonder if Coach Tubbs feels good about his chances of getting this guy...or whether he has someone else lined up to join our low post group?

Sounds to me like Odom wants the UVa job. Normally, if a coach isn't flat-out pursuing a job, he denies any interest, so if he doesn't get it he can say "I didn't want it" or "I withdrew my name, etc." Seriously, how often do you see a guy mentioned for a job, deny interest in it and then accept the position a few days later? If Odom isn't denying interest, he's actively pursuing it.
