Just noticed over the weekend that Matt Williams is a Rivals "3" Star.

Williams joins Brian Morris as three star recruits. Bamba Fall is a 2 star and Dez Willingham is a 4 star from two years ago.

Stallion, am I correct that you (or someone) must have posted this earlier. Maybe it is old news. Regardless, some were questioning the "reasoning" for SMU's recruitment of Matt and this should squelch some of the talk.

Whatever, I think it bodes well for Coach Tubbs and the coaching staffs evaluation. :D

That's pretty impressive for an undersized shooting guard.

For those of us far, far away, can somebody post his senior year stats-especially how he did against big schools?

Thanks!

Matt averaged 32 pts per game as a senior...unfortunately can't find a game by game break down though his season high was 61 against Plano West

I posted this back in Jan. Here's how he did against 5A competition and the #1 team at the time in OK:

61pts - Plano West
39pts - Richardson
30pts - Carr. RL Turner
44pts - Carr. Ranchview
29pts - Idabel (#1 in Oklahoma)

Sounds like we have a shooter on our hands. How the rest of his game shapes up, I don't know, but it sounds like the kid can fill it. Maybe he'll be in the 3-point shooting contest at the Final Four in a few years.

Lets hope he can get open when everyone is moving alot faster in the college game. And no 62 in Texas is not where we ought to be aiming for our recruits - I think he will work out, but lets not get too hyped up just yet. I am much more excited about the wide-body - we need two more at least.

I'm already hyped up about having an outside threat--he will keep the defense honest and open things up for your "wide bodies" in the low post.

Exactly, he will fill a need that has been sorely absent since the departure of Stephen Woods and Chad Elsey

Congrats, Matt, on making the "coveted" Rivals 3 star rating!! Reminds me of SMU allum Phil Hale.
