AUSTIN – Texas has sold the naming rights to its baseball stadium – Disch-Falk Field – for $13.1 million to University Federal Credit Union for the next 15 years, officials announced Wednesday.
The money will help pay for a complete renovation of the 30-year-old stadium that will begin after this season with scheduled completion by the 2008 season.
Starting Aug. 1, 2006, the new name of the stadium will be "UFCU Disch-Falk Field." UT officials plan to add 1,400 seats, including club seating and possibly suites; retool the stadium structure and upgrade everything from concession stands to locker rooms.
The renovation of UFCU Disch-Falk Field is part of a three-pronged fund-raising, renovation project that includes adding 10,000 seats, including suites, to the north end zone of Royal-Memorial Stadium and constructing a new outdoor swimming and diving facility. No timetable has been set for those projects.
