C-USA FALL RECRUITING!
January 3, 2006
Conference-USA Fall Signings...
By Van Coleman [email protected]

Conference-USA had a solid class considering the changes to the face of the league...the schools signed 35 recruits in total and placed four schools in our top forty...

C-USA had a solid class headed by a very strong Memphis class, while three other schools UAB, Southern Miss, and Houston were among our top forty. C-USA had a number of schools that had solid classes in UTEP, Marshall, and East Carolina, plus solid starts at Central Florida and Rice signing 35 recruits in all. With two schools only signing one and one with no signees, look for C-USA to be very active in the spring.

what, y'all dont think Nyam is a savior? Its hard to say it looks good right now, but those rankings arent final. I dont think we'll get Darrell Arthur, one source says we are no longer under consideration but then he shows up at Moody last night. Strange. Tubbs took a shot at some heavyweights in the Fall and lost. I think the thing to do now is position for some fast risers that climb the rankings with good senior seasons or juco seasons. That happens more in basketball because lots of schools fill up during the early signing date before the season starts. Tubbs kind of did that last year when he signed Morris late in the spring. Dont most of you like what you see from Morris? I do. He also got Epps late in spring, after the season. I dont think Tubbs is actually playing Epps enough. I think he could be the extra scorer we need if you get him a few shots and more time. Tubbs has done a good job working people in, but I'd like to see more of Epps and more demanded of him. He is big and has a nice jumper.

You are right Hoops Fan...SMU will make the NCAA tournament with the players it has on the roster. Tubbs was hired because he could recruit locally. He has not got a signle local player yet. How many more years do you give him? One, two, five, ten? The lack of support from the administration does not help but it is very disappointing Tubbs has not done better. A prime example is the Roberts kid that went to Baylor. When you are getting outrecruited by a team that almost got the death penalty it does not look good. Facts are facts.

I didn't say that BJ, but Dez, Morris, Fall could definitely be part of the puzzle. Its too bad we are not a top 25 team already, but we weren't exactly on an upswing when he took over. Facts is facts, as you say. To answer your question directly, I dont think he has had even near long enough. He is in the middle of his second recruiting class. Think about that. You have to give any college coach 4 years unless he inherited a good team, which he didn't. Keep on hatin BJ.

Rogers is the kid that went Baylor. Baylor has its own story going on, what it is I don't know. Scott Drew must be one sweet talker.

Just to rehash what has been said a million times, a coach could come in here and turn things around in 1 year if the stage was set correctly. At SMU that time table is different.

This is the SMU board, we CANNOT censor what is said over here, to protect the feelings of fans from other schools.
