It won't be the 1st SMU dynasty. Doc Hayes won 299 games as head coach at SMU in the 50's and 60's and won 8 SWC Championships. If Tubbs could duplicate that over the next 15 yrs, I'd be thrilled. Better get to work quickly. Pushing Memphis aside won't be easy.

It took Hayes 8 yrs to win that 1st championship, but he then won 8 over a 13 year span. That will be difficult for any SMU coach to surpass.

He will build a dynasty...

This SMU basketball program is turning around. This team this year will make the turnaround, now they need to renovate Moody and then fill it!

You base this "turnaround" on what?

I'm all in favor of renovating Moody and downsizing to about 7500 capacity, with luxury seating for the big donors who don't do much for our courtside atmosphere.

In my day, students packed the bleachers courtside (not quite like Cameron Indoor today, but not far from it on many nights) and we had crowds in excess of 10,000 for big games. We just don't need that many seats anymore and the biggest thing SMU needs is at least the appearance of strong fan support.

Give me 5000 regulars in a 7500 seat venue for bball and 25000 regulars at Ford and our gameday atmosphere will be improved to the point recruits might actually be impressed.
