Hmm,The statement Mustangs fans made about how "our close loss to the Sooners shows progress" just goes to show how little people know about basketball. Not only have they lost to bad Nebraska and Missouri (in Norman) teams since then they beat us, but also they lost by double digits to the the only good teams they had played this year (West Virginia and Villanova) and have beaten absolutly no one of consequence (best RPI win, #62 Sanford) but yet we were really going to show the world something with a W there.
By the way anyone that was at that game would realize how limited we are. Our supposed saviors (if you listen to these message boards) Morris and Fall were nonfactors as they have been when playing against anyone with that dazzling combination of size and coordination, our coach who is really making a difference (if you listen to these message boards) couldn't draw up a play to get someone an open shot to save his life, and to prove I am not negative by nature, Dez Willingham was awesome and kept us in the game by himself. At one point with 6 minutes to go Dez had 18 and his teammates had 14 (yikes!)
We now sit at 276 in the RPI, do you know how hard it is to be that low with a winning record? I think its funny with that evidence, and the 14-14 record last year with 4 players that had started over 50 games a piece going into that season, people on this board are blindly saying we have made strides since Dement was here. Also, our great move to Conference USA will not help raise our stature either, the conference remains rated 19th in the country (yep thats behind the Southland, Sun Belt, and Ohio Valley folks) despite having the number 2 RPI team in the nation. We might finish fifth and not have to beat a single team the entire season that appears in the RPI top 100 (I wish I was joking, but 9 of 12 teams in this conference reside in the 200+ area of the RPI). This my friends is not progress, its just playing an a impossibly easy schedule and barely being .500.
Also, I'm sure all this negativity will ensure some messages that I am not a true fan or I have an axe to grind. Anyone else driving to Memphis for the game Saturday is free to meet me there and convince me with FACTS Im wrong.
At least the myopic folks still have Arthur to pray for, wait a tick what is Rivals.com saying now. I mean I guess its possible that his MOM isnt a reliable source. I'm sure some folks on this board can convince themselves of that one too.

Yes, TCU is limited. Go back there, fake. You have too much time on your hands.

nahh...but why don't you drive to Edinburg for the UTPA game and we can talk there?
Just kidding.
Oh, and for someone with such a disdain for the populace of this website, your sure spent a lot of time on the dissertation that represents your 4th post.

So instead of refuting anything I say, just attack me, good times.

And you accuse others of coming out with fists flying? Look at the way you attack the team. Re-read the name of the site, and consider the fact that the majority of the people on this site are fans, and that doesn't in and of itself mean blind optimism (there are many who cry that there's not enough optimism). But when you come out and take potshots at my team and my coach and therefore my alma mater, a defensive reaction is understandable. If you take verbal swings at my family, you'd better believe I'm going to jump your case, and to a lesser degree, the same rule applies here. My alma mater means a hell of a lot to me, and I do, in fact, support the young men and women who are busting their tails to represent that alma mater. I drive up from Waco as often as I can to catch games, and while you might prefer to have seen us get blown out by then-#12 Oklahoma, I was proud of the guys for fighting tooth and nail and hanging in there. If you're lucky, maybe UTEP will blow us out tonight. Personally, I'm coming up to see the Ponies win.

Yes, OU is very overrated as is UT every year.
Yes, the WAC is a better conference this year w/ and Tubbs played a ridiculously easy non-conference.
Yes, we are most likely not going to get Arthur. That would be a miracle at this point.
Yes, we aren't very good - What is your point? I would have to go back and check but I am not sure I read too many posts that said "way too go boys and hang with OU and lose"

alright Joker, thats a good name for you by the way. I wouldn't say many people were 'happy' about the close loss to OU. I called it a missed opportunity, which it was. Most people on here thought OU was hugely overrated coming into our game, it didnt take a genius like you to see that. Congratulations.
As for your other points, Morris and Fall are freshman. That kinda makes a difference dont ya think? Go ahead and tell us who called them 'saviors'. And you thought last years team proves what, that Tubbs can't coach? Is that because that group was so good the year before or what? Experience is great, but you have to have the talent and complementary skill sets to win. Who on last years team could get you a key rebound? Who could make a key shot except BHop? Nobody and nobody. Adding Dez helps. I see this team as no worse than last year, despite losing all that experience. As for the offense, I saw alot of good things coming out the lockerroom in the second half against OU. Several good possessions.
I wont be in Memphis, but say hello to Elvis for us, cuz you aint nothin but a hounddog crying all the time. Wah, wah, wah.
